Hi all, Can anyone tell me why these reed valves have been modified like this? Would there be any gains from this?

Not strictly true. An mot centre can't stop you taking a vehicle away, even if it has failed on a 'dangerous' fault. They can only advise against it. However, the onus is on the owner as if they are using a vehicle on the road in a dangerous condition, they are committing an offence regardless so this hasn't really changed. What rich say's here is true. And if a vehicle does fail on a 'major' then it an only be taken away and not used until any repairs are carried out. In copper99 situation, it sounds like Kwick-fit were just pressuring for the business, which is a bit naughty. Aid.

Its been my experience that if the bike is standard they do do nothing other then look nice .Id fit one on that basis alone. However the more tuned the bike that better they are and if you run ypvs reed blocks with a hybrid bottle they are even better again. i have seen dynos adding 2 BHP all they the range once one was fitted on a tuned bike Can the size or shape of the bottle make a difference?

Mmmmmm? Thanks to everyone for their input. It's down to what you expect, what you want and how much you are prepared to pay. I also think that preparation is very important. I have to say that I think they have turned out good considering what they like before hand. Agreed though, there is room for improvement, compared to Hoopy's.

Had these done the other day and I was surprised how good they turned out. This is the first time I have ever had anything vp'd so have nothing to compare to. What do other members think of the result? Thanks, Aid. DS

I feel so sorry for you and your family after reading your post. It's times like this that everyone should realise how fragile we really are. 31 years of marriage with four children is testament to what you and your wife have and nothing can take that away. And hopefully with the strength and determination you both have, your marriage will go on and on. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

My mate took a Thruxton a test ride a few years back and I went with him. Well, he over shot the time on the test ride and then traded in his Repsol cbr1000rr Fireblade for that Thruxton and never looked back. I was gobsmacked! Anyway he has decided to sell it now as he hasn't used it much in the last 12 months and work with family commitments has changed a lot. It is a superb example and I can get a picture if you want to see it before it is advertised.

Just got a letter today from UPS saying that I have unpaid charges with UPS. At first I thought that it was something to do with a parcel that I shipped to the USA. But on a closer look and read, something didn't quite seem right. I have only used UPS that once and don't have an account with them, so I checked through my paperwork and sure enough none of the information on the letter ties up with anything I have. So just beware of this scam.

I thought they were the same and yes pattern ones can be a little too short. This is how things were when I had an LC with LC2 forks on, a long time ago.
Thanks, lads.

I think you can only get info on a vehicle you own and is registered to you buy using a V888 form. I did this on my LC about 12months ago. It may have changed though, as you say Steve, with the DPA.

You can get the history of the bike from the DVLA for £5. but only if your bike is registered to you. They will give you all the info they hold on it and if it is a uk bike from new you will see the original registration which will have the original colour.

Busy week, so haven't done loads, but did refurb the rad. It was in pretty good nic anyway, but I gave it a good wash inside and out after giving the paint a key with some fine sanding blocks. Resprayed it in gloss black, found some better rad guard spacers, polished up the rad guard, and fitted the 2 polished side plates that came in a box of spares; 20180912_161110 by David Miller, on Flickr 20180912_161021 by David Miller, on Flickr 20180912_161008 by David Miller, on Flickr Wouldn't normally fit something like those plates but I think they look ok. Next job is to make a plate to mount some horns to. Dusty Hi Dusty, Do you know where I could get some of those rad plates? Years ago Foxy John,(LC Club), was selling them. I have tried to contact him but no reply. Thanks, Aid.

It does bite just a shame I cannot get some wider tyres on it. The whole front & rear end conversions are a above my skill level, by the time I’ve found the conversion and paid to get it built I may just as well sold this one and put the money into a special. I dunno so confused lol I paid 2.2k for this originally and have easily sunk just over 1k to get it riding new tank ect. You don't need bigger tyres just bigger balls and ride it like you stole it!😀
