Hi Norbo Thanks for that but mine is the F2 model with square front light, the only one I see on on your site is the round headlight. Or am I missing something The only bikini fairings made have round lights so if you want to go that route you'll need to roll your sleeves up and do some fabricating of a new bracket, you'll also need a replacement round headlight. Have a look in the rebuilds thread at Kennyroberts's 350 F2 full nut and bolt rebuild, the last page - 11 - at the moment he's doing what you're looking at doing.

I would expect you to have to buy a new battery, once they've discharged its unlikely that they will recover.

You need a different type of flasher relay designed for the new indicators.

I don't think it looks too bad considering, the main bit for changing would be that rear light it sticks out a mile and make it look like an after thought.

Shocks will always look OK unless leaking, but if the damping inside is gone they are next to useless, it would be ideal if you had someone nearby who you could borrow one off as a quick ride round the block will confirm it.

does anyone no the new valve stem measurements ,could have a look at that 1st? I have measured a NOS set and they come out at 17.17mm - 17.2mm. The small end cap stem is smaller at 16.95mm but I assume that they should all be the same.

Start with the basics, tyre pressure, tyre condition, is the rear wheel in line with the front, play in linkages or bushes then shock itself, if its the original shock then it could well be past its best, lastly take your weight into consideration too. A custom shock to suit you will set you back at least £300 I should think, I'm not sure if the original shocks are rebuild-able either else that would be an alternative to a completely new one.

It's a bugger when theta happens eh? I've not used these people before but a friend had his mar bar tank resprayed there and it was like it was just off the factory floor or better. www.custom-paint.co.uk...and thanks for the link mate...stunning work, I shall be in touch with them. Word of advise custom paint - AKA Tony Collins - don't waste your money with him, unless he has had a radical personality change he is a complete arse and I wouldn't recommend him to anyone, I have had work (if you can call it that) done by him so speak from personal experience. Pretty web pictures are that but who's to say how old they are and whos work it is anyway. I know others have used him and will rate him but my experience of him and his work is less than satisfactory. Your money - your choice though.

Yes the stems can wear on the valves and many have, I would go with new bushes and seals first to see if that improves it, sometimes just the bushes wear, they aren't cheap mind you. A new set of valves, bushes and seals is well over £200 if you don't already know

Sal, if it only needs topping up just put some anti freeze in - it won't harm having too strong a mix.

In theory dry will be fine, you can put a smear of grease on it if you want to re-use it next time, don't put silicone sealant on it - as it will be destroyed if / when you take the cover off next time. If it still leaks then its time for the sealant.

Usually the needle valves - the rubber perishes and doesn't seal. Brakes - probably dirt behind the seals putting pressure onto the piston, if so will need removing and cleaning, possibly new seals.

Warning Picture Heavy Item ;D : - I've dug this out from the archives so to speak just for you Paul ;D I spent quite a few hours on the screen, there were quite a few deep stone chips in various places and a couple of long scratches on the front, I've taken some pictures but some of the bits are hard to see in them : - First task I do is mask the black inner paintwork with electrical tape : - Next is the wet and dry, choose an area to work on and depending how deep the blemishes are I go to work with wet and dry - for light scratches I use 2000, for deep stuff I start off coarser then go to 2000 grade. In this one you might see 3 stone chips - in the reflection of the sky in the picture : - Then I get my scratch removing paste out, again, coarse first then fine later, I use it with a drill on slow speed - it can be done by hand but would take even longer : - Some other areas : - It does take some time and you have to be methodical as there are always scratches on both sides of the screen that need to be worked on, final touch is to remove the tape, mask off the clear part of the screen and respray the black edge, when thats dry give the screen a wax and polish : -

Dry fit, or you can put a smear of grease on it to enable it to be reused if you need to remove it to adjust the clutch.
The throttle cable should fit into a small flat plate can't recall if it points forwards or backwards, but it should be just above the cylinder head area and the rubber slides onto it to keep the joint / cable held in place.

I had a close miss with him, he's now on my blocked list too - he won my item; I gave him a couple of days and when he hadn't paid I cancelled the auction, he replied straight away funnily enough, wasn't too impressed - told him I'd lost the item; but he agreed to cancel - then he left me with negative feedback which because it doesn't break ebay rules ebay won't remove it, small price to pay though, as I was expecting him to not agree to cancel the auction and leave me with the fees.

Don't see why not, but why you need to take the cap off to let the oil run out. I would have thought it would be a messy alternative and no guarantee of getting the correct amount into each leg.

I've never heard of people syncing carbs with the engine running and personally I wouldn't do it. Damage wise you've probably scored the barrels due to lack of oil, either run it as is or whip an exhaust off and take a look through the port.
