Hi all, i started my 31k today for the first time in a while. The battrey was flat as flat could be but i thought i would start it and let it charge . The problem is that the battery took zero charge after at least 10 mins running. All connections are fine and everthing is in order fuses etc. Any ideas guys . Thanks

I would expect you to have to buy a new battery, once they've discharged its unlikely that they will recover.

The only way to check for sure is to use a multi-meter across the battery terminals.
That will tell you how good/bad the battery is charged before you run the bike and also whether the charging system is working correctly.
Battery should have 12.4 ish volts when charged with the bike not running and around 13.5v-14v when revving the bike with or without the lights on.

The way the R/R works on these bikes, you need some charge in the battery for it to receive any charge.
If it's completely flat, then all the alternators output is dumped through the R/R.
Give it a charge with an external charger, then try again on the bike.

A trickle charger is best to bring a battery back to life and you can leave connected when in shed etc.

As above. An intelligent charger can be left connected to the battery when the bikes not in service. If there is any doubt about the serviceability of the battery, bin it, they are not expensive.
