Ive done this, I cut around the obvious holes to have less to cut.
I'd tried heat and all sorts first and ruined the stator and rotor and the crank end (it still couldnt come off) doing it, but i did get to use the cases and other parts.
Another thing to try is a big rattle gun. I did another with a mates SnapOn 1000NM (or something like that, I did just make that value up lol) unit. If doing this; DO NOT hold a spanner on the tool... and you might ruin the tool... you have been warned etc.

I believe you can still buy the OEM hoses? Depends on the style of build as Jon says of course.

yes, happens on cars and bikes. The header tank level is designed to go up and down in use with expansion and also there is some loss but it is minimal.

Its just so loooong in the middle... or is that deeeep? Thiiiick? Anyway, its just weird to me. the pipes seem to low to the ground so it looks like an engine swap, which is sad as the rest looks ok.

Is the R6 a mechanical drive or a later electronic one? Could you not use R6 clocks to make it easier? My thoughts on fitting electronic to a Lc are one thing also to be mindful of is over or under reading. Whilst mine has been set up (koso) to run of the disc I thought it was bang on, however at 30mph shown I’m doing nearly 40 and it gets progressively inaccurate at approx 60 shown I’m doing 80 etc this was compared to my mates 765 rs. This won’t be an issue if you keep a mechanical drive from an equivalent yamaha from the same period to the clocks. The other consideration is buying electronic clocks they will need to be set up and wired properly. The R6 is all digi.. Speedo is driver from a gearbox sensor unfortunately...
I might go the Koso route though...
Very early R6 can poss be used, its like the R1 (which was easier to make work, tho not 5mins) from a decade back when they were cheap. the rzrd500 350 forum has a long thread on that info. FWIW Speedo healer and tacho feed fudger (tech term) can fix the inputs. depends on how much effort you want to put in... I have an R1 setup i should use or sell really, problem is these things used to be cheap but not anymore since early R1s are worth $$$ now, but stuff always cheaper in US for you

The other reason can be the ground in the switch, but start with the easy things of course.

Make sure the bulbs are 21W ones as some pattern indicators have 18W bulbs which is not enough load for the OEM flasher. This is also my guess for the issue. Why oh why are pattern inds not the right wattage?!?!

the bolt/weld on kits were the way to go for this look i reckon, the full side cover is a banshee item hence the lack of oil pump.
Agreed window isnt racey, its bling but its amusing to own. no worse than so many other things we fit lol

The later style of round cap might come off, but the earlier oem 'eared' cap is locked into position with the cowl. It was a security thing for the types of owners expected... ie teens who steal eachother's girlfriends tend to mess with bikes of the GF stealers etc. so locking fuel cap and basically lock down the cooling system... I could have made that up... glaring error to my theory is the oil filler

I've found that the problem with fans is that the fan(s) itself and the brackets also block the airflow to an extent, so you sort of go backwards and forwards at the same time. I think what you really need is more surface area, fans will only help so much sadly. You know this of course.

Cant be much longer that LCs will be on sale this 'UK summer' can there? Surely the ads will start to be pulled soon as bikes get put away for winter so that they can command top prices in the spring? I agree with Pete, you cant judge an LC thats for sale by its price, there are a lot of factors you should take into account. Sadly some are still thrown together at high prices and yet a little digging uncovers dodgy work and iffy pattern parts etc. Always ask what crank seals are fitted. If they say aftermarket or they dont know or they have 'just got it running after 10+ years with a few kicks' its time to walk/run away etc. Ive also decided to finally add a new category of 'run away': The sellers who claim to be 'ex bike mechanics'. OMFG have I seen some iffy shite dressed up as running bikes from those who proclaim to have done it professionally. sigh... I'll say now, anyone any good as a bike mechanic still is one... the ones who are 'ex' are ex for a reason and should have their spanners taken away for life. A mate of mine and I just bought a bike for him from an ex bike mechanic, the list of horrors would frighten you. It would make a seriously scary horror movie. I also agree again with Pete; its defo less easy to buy and build and fettle an LC in 2023 without contacts. I love my forum brothers like actual brothers... many of whom Ive known for many years, and without them this would be a boring and worthless hobby. (Pete is also included in that list of course )

at the tail end... in 1995... RD350R's were circa £4k. I did a deal and got one for £2750 including some accessories and a deal on gear at half price.
So for me it was a cheap bike, the mags had trashed it enough at that point (without reason really as we know) that sales were dead.

Webike doesnt usually sell crap so I bet they will be fine. I also expect there will only be one order of these from the supplier as they wont be a huge seller. but what do i know lol To be honest its not like the 2nd hand market is about to plummet with these being available either considering the price. With the tanks that happened cos by the time youd bought n repaired something it would have been close, but not with these imho. But they are on the OEM bore, so finally all those nos pistons that were cheap cos no one needed a std bore will now be usable What is great i guess is that it sets the price for anyone else coming into this market, but... its not as cheap as some of us had hoped*. * - Hope does not mean we dont understand the costs involved, it just means its out of my budget haha.

Use the search function on here. There is plenty of information about the subject. You would have thought so, but doing a search for those two really common words results in pretty much every thread ever written appearing in the search results. I wondered if anyone had any advice over what the manual says. Never mind. I find the search really useful, but it does take some getting used to as its very powerful and allows a decent long tail search. have you used the part that says 'all the words' rather than them on their own?

Filled a battery with acid last night and let it settle over night Popped it in the bike tonight and apprehensive switched it on Amazingly everything but the indicators worked straight away First thought was the indicator relay but after trying 6 x 3 pin relays with no success I stuck a 2 pin one in Now I have left indies but no right. Quick check with a multi meter then confirmed with trying a new switch it seems the switch is the problem
Who needs self cancelling indies anyway 🤣 I'll have a look another time but need to strip the switch Bigger fish to fry, currently fitting an LED headlight into the rims so I can button that up Steve Sometimes if the switch has been rebuilt you can have a ground issue with the brass 'tangs' that the inds use to earth the system. This can cause the inds to either not work on one side (cos they never make contact with the tang) or work weirdly if they sometimes make contact. The switch parts are actually quite sensitive and more complex than you'd think at first look. Anyway, know its simpler to just pop another in, but something to look at when youve more time (Boxing Day perhaps lol) and worth knowing for those who come to this thread later.

See... LC looms a doddle . yep, bunch of moaners about our bikes when you hear about everything else. The wires are colour coded and the whole bike fits easily on a page. what's not to like?! lol
