Hi guys, I'm new here, been searching through the forum about this, because it is probably written somewhere but I can't find it. Its a RD250LC in question.
Will Ypvs pipes fit on LC models and clear the centre stand?
I would like to use Ypvs pipes on my build, the plan is to install 392 athena kit (already in the post) on the LC bottom end ( welded adapter plate). The cylinders will be using pneumatic power valves. Is there any blueprints for aftermarket exhausts, as I will have to cut off the flanges probably due to using that kit it is possible that custom pipes will have to be made. Hopefully its the right thread for the question. Thanks
YPVS pipes do fit on an LC's frame with the C/stand usable. eg my 251LC has them fitted. you just elongate the rear mount. Pneumatic PVs on Athena? Can you link to where you saw this kit? Athena is all non-pv AFAIK. As has been said, only later ypvs bottom end fits the athena as its designed for the banshee.

Does look good as Chris said. Nice.
I think I'd strip the bodywork off and the manhandle the rest down... else strip it almost totally and rebuild it after. hmm...

Ive said it quite a few times on here -> their lines are great.
Made by a UK company who makes them for classic cars etc and AFAIK the same as Norbo used to sell.
Not everything rubber sold by them is junk but it pays to know where things are made etc.
Defo do not buy the Legend chinese ones.

Dont stick yer fingers in it while its running.
Other than that, they are great kit. Been using them for years to clean all sorts of things.

Cool, thanks mate!
I'll pass the info to him, might get a set for me as well. I used part PWK stuff, part TZR cables and some other bits i had lying around. it works well but a simpler solution might be good to have on hand as I have another set of PWKs i might one day use. hmm...

Robert Crumb. Fantastic artist and 100% a weirdo. Alex I have a book of his work, he was obsessed with certain things and defo a weirdo, but tis classic art of its era; truely contemporary.

I just pulled a tyre off an old LC wheel that i was gifted by LB from this forum, geez... I remember him buying the project many years back and the bike had been sitting. The tyre was basically brand new, but a hundred years old... so hard as nails from sitting in this climate. It was like it was made from concrete or cast iron. No need for the gym today, Ive done a full body workout using the tyre levers and holding the wheel with my legs and feet. Should have done a time lapse video... would have been hilarious to watch.

Thanks all, going to try the stuff Steve's linked to, got some thick walled pipe from a car, but it's far too stiff to route smoothly. I have used Tygon before on a hybrid, but I didn't think they made it in the bigger sizes? Although it's very pricey. it's possibly worth it. Yes Jon, still avaulable but nearly £40 for each pipe Hmm, thats the crazy local yam pricing i guess, its cheaper elsewhere of course. The OEM is at least correctly curved which helps... {justification made... thin but... lol}

I assume you offset the steel plates as per the manual? you didnt say but...
I think you'll be down to replace parts and see whats different. I would try different steels and see if that was the issue.
I also assume the springs are new and tight? you havent got one or two bound up with a washer or something silly to allow some parts to get out of line when hot?

Haha, superb!
Glad you got it sorted. They are a decent rear master and there are other outlet models as well if you ever needed a different setup, ie top take off.

Im still amazed at how bad this bike was when you got it and yet was still rideable, if scary.
I must be a great relief to know its been done right now. No more gambling with other DPO's efforts etc.

looks like a webike (Mizuno etc) tank, so Taiwanese and thus fine.
But... remember there were some factory Japanese painted tanks made and sold by yam a few years back as a sort of 2nd generation thing. they were hellish expensive tho and JDM paint scheme of course.

Early XS and XJ models had the same switchgear with the choke option, LC type were cast in the switchgear whereas the ypvs was separate, some look the same but aren’t so have a good look. Cable wise I’ve found on that fits but you need to add a 5mm spacer or shorten the cable by 5mm ish, I’ll dig it out. Interesting info, I made one up so it would be good know what thats off as I have a mate who is making one up and needs a cable.

Ive had them from Webike and also I think it was P&K. It was discussed pretty recently as there was a thread that they had stopped doing them, but i think it was Rob who found they still did em on their site.
Both were great btw. new foam is defo where its at imho.

Wow, the rear brake worries me more than the front, which is very iffy indeed. The force of grabbing that rear disk with only that bit of bent metal to hold it... {shudder}

Just keep plodding along doing the jobs on the other bikes and bits on this as-n-when and either you'll be ready to build or at least its a project with a usable frame for the next guy etc. All good in my book
