hiya folks, just to put my mind at ease,I've fitted a pair of pwk 28 carbs on my 31k valve motor, when I'm starting it from cold with the choke it pretty much fires up straight away,my worry is once it started the revs rise realy quickly(almost like the bike has an air leak)once I knock the choke off it settles back to normal tickler, anybody else have this happen? Thanks

Yes
It's why I changed to a cable operated choke to allow more control

I fitted a cable operated choke, much easier to control/easier to operate

Never noticed racing away, as above I only use the left choke, but I'd expect some increase in revs anyway.

I'm using R6 switches Like www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166167610366Electrics were easy as well, just made up a 6 inch loom to connect into original wiring, so nothings modified and can all be put back if needed.

Early XS and XJ models had the same switchgear with the choke option, LC type were cast in the switchgear whereas the ypvs was separate, some look the same but aren’t so have a good look. Cable wise I’ve found on that fits but you need to add a 5mm spacer or shorten the cable by 5mm ish, I’ll dig it out.

Cool, thanks mate!
I'll pass the info to him, might get a set for me as well. I used part PWK stuff, part TZR cables and some other bits i had lying around. it works well but a simpler solution might be good to have on hand as I have another set of PWKs i might one day use. hmm...

Yes Jon, just a 5mm ish spacer as the cable is slightly too long. 👍🏼
