Noticed running the bike in that the brake is Uber sensitive barely touch the lever it’s locking the caliper. It’s a new replacement Suzuki gs125 master cylinder connected to an Ap/grimeca classic race caliper. I’d like to have something more progressive and less light switch in its operation. I’d also like an adjustable span lever. The bore I thought was 14mm some sites say it is other it’s 12.8 mm. Any recommendations? Cheers

I’m running a similar AP Lockheed calliper and a 250LC m/c. Originally I had the 350m/c and twin AP’s and it was like you say, very sensitive and would lock up. The 250m/c made it far more controllable with lots of modulation. Since I’ve gone over to one AP it’s lost a little of its controllability but is still very usable 👍🏻

If the cylinder is from a 125 it will either be 11mm or 13mm
If its that sensitive I'd guess 11mm
Borrow a 1/2 lc master off someone and try it before splashing out on a new one that may be no better
I/d have thought 1/2 would be fine

Not sure if this will help. a front master cylinder bore chart. It might help you to determine the correct size of master cylinder that you might like to link to your front caliper. I use a Yamaha Thundercat Blue Spot caliper and matching master cylinder on my 250LC and after getting used to it I have to admit it has decent stopping power without locking the front wheel. Tim just out of curiosity. Is it possible that due to the anti-dive system your front wheel is locking up easier than normal because it's a different type of motorcycle performance.

Locking before the weight has transfered?

No it’s not that as the action at stand still is exactly the same It’s full on literally touch it and it’s locked, absolutely no movement or feel, like a switch. I understand that the anti dive will have a part to play, but the lever itself is instant. I like to have a little lever play. Thanks both anyway. 👍 I was just wondering what others with a single disc ran, with and adjustable lever. 4L1 master doesn’t have the adjustment I want. Been looking but didn’t want to spend out on a brembo etc

Locking before the weight has transfered? Steve Yes why did I make it sound so longwinded?

Just get a second hand 50cc bike master cylinder the ones i have seen have mostly been 11mm. That will give you an idea of which way to go and cheap as chips. I think Rob(4L0) might have some experience with this.

It’s the lack of an adjustable lever that I can’t find looked at lots of 125 etc.

I can totally understand that and it can be frustrating. It's the sort of problem you have to solve then fabricate to suit you desire or idea. This is where you need mate's with lathes and milling machines etc.

I'm on a single blue spot, 320mm disk and a TDR250 master (So I keep Yam mirror threads). Works great for me, and looks standard-ish.

Good call on the rs125
I was just about to suggest looking at something like small ninjas because of the single disc

What about the TZR125R? That would have been a single disk a brembo M/C.

Andy it’s the adjustable span lever I want as well. I’ll have a look but thought they weren’t apart from the little screw.

As posted above by me, I use the Thundercat twin blue spot caliper and matching master cylinder. The master cylinder retains the same mirror thread as the LC and I also fitted adjustable span levers for clutch and brake. They are the click adjustable ones so changing the span and movement of the brake and clutch is very easy.
Now that I am used to it I find it works very well and I have no problems with over-braking on the front wheel, using a single disc in this instance.
