Do the usual online sellers not have these? ISTR that they probably dont? If so, then maybe a Wanted ad?

I'll second what Dusty said about this kind of setback; This is just what building special bikes is all about. If it was simple and went to plan then everyone would do it.
The main thing is that it has to be safe, its your neck on the line and a bit of extra time isnt a huge issue.
While this work happens you can still fit the engine if you jack the bike up and chock it well.

Ahh ok, so I wasnt seeing things. Alex, you need to get this to a welder to have the whole underside of this part beefed up, if its thin then those stops could be ripped out in a crash, but more worrying is that the legs could part company with the stem area. That would be catastrophic and needs addressing. Not just where there are holes, but where its been filed and is now too thin for the forces. More work, but it will be stronger for it... and safe.

Yeah, I think that’s what stevesmith was refreshing to above as I forgotten to put the link to the slide. Check out all his stuff’s price, they are ridiculous. I know kidney clocks go for a lot, especially U.K. decent ones but has that really reached £825 plus £28.50 postage? What also makes me laugh is their description where they contradict themselves: without doubt nearly new!! You won’t be disappointed Please remember you’re buying a secondhand used 40 plus year old item not new!!Or what about this: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276412419735?itmmeta=01HTSCCTG6QKJKRQBPPMPD7PVV&hash=item405b76ce97:g:prkAAOSwOuRj1tD~The they say: please study photos as form part of the description FSS, is in a bag so you can’t see it properly? Probably trying to put across its ‘newness’? Jon I did as you suggested regarding his pricing and found an LC oil tank cap for £9.50, Fowlers still sell them retail at £8.04! his was used I guess? One thing I would always advise new players to our hobby is to check the dealer. They might well have new ones still and them be cheaper than ugly used items, especially when you factor in postage.

I think the reason that works well is that youre basically bench bleeding it in situ, its what you do with larger master cylinders (ie cars and above) but we get away with just bolting an empty one on a bike mostly.

no with the nipple closed. Its to allow bubbles to come up into the master.
Have a search and read around on the forum about brake bleeding it will help.

hold the pedal down overnight and see if that helps.
Also when bleading take the caliper off and turn it over and around to get the air into the area by the nipple.
The rear can be a pain to do.

Id agree with Dusty, you had this mad to fit IIRC so it should be fine in which case its just something not seated right.
FWIW when you have it apart again. Give it a good clean... all those filings wont do the ball bearings any good as there is no seal under the bearing... Might be worth seeing if the LC rubber ones fit?

The Aussie sellers are pumping the prices of stuff here as well. Sure we dont have much local stuff now, but wow they seem to think its all gold plated... its more like turds rolled in glitter. However, this isnt a turd, it is gold... but wow that's a lot of money just to have your pump 'now' and jump Gary's queue. www.ebay.com.au/itm/134851486992He actually has 4 pumps listed, all Arrow refurbs.

Cheers Jon, that’s pretty much my thoughts. My motor has plenty of compression by feel on the kicker, just wanted to know where I was with a reliable reading as a bench mark. There seems to be a lot of unreliable compression testers on the market so just try to make sure I can get my hands on one that’s up to the job for a two stroke. Mark. Fair point Mark. Always good to have reliable test equipment.

FWIW Personally Ive never found a compression tester that useful on a 2 stroke. If it starts easily then its got enough compression, if it doesnt then its needing a rebuild etc.

Use good gaskets. The gaskets I make are a better fit than most of the other after-market gaskets. Fit the reed blocks and gaskets with Threebond 1215. Fit the head gasket with no extra coatings. Fit all the other gaskets with a thin smear of grease to aid disassambly in the future. Use OEM or ARS seals. ARS make the OEM seals so they are the same! You can get ARS seal sets from MBD. With you on all that, but i copper spray even brand new OEM head gaskets now after an engine leak hassle.
