I've recently been asked to do a few of these for people, so eventually got my finger out and sourced a company that can supply me the rear sprocket blanks, since I've done a few sets now, I thought I'd ask on here if there is any interest, or indeed if anybody wants some doing - since I've a few to do
At the moment I can supply the front and rear sprocket in 520 chain format and I can source pretty much most types of chain, so that can be speicified by the customer, the one thing I've not sorted out as such is the new spacer, I can make some out of S/S but that will be a little soft I suspect, so ideally I need to get some hardened spacers made, this I can get done but it might take a little while to sort
Currently I can do the front and rear sprockets for around £60 inc vat, the price might come down a bit if I have lots of rear sprockets to machine as that is where the cost lies in the time it takes to machine each one
I can do 15, 16 and 17T fronts and pretty much any size 35T up to 50T rears, although most just want a 16/39 or a 17/39 combo but I can vary it if required
Any interest, just send me a message and I'll get it sorted for you

total members on this forum is 8,312 as of just now, exactly how many are active and still relevant is hard to say, but certainly more than 200 I'd say

dyno tested some last week, didn't make anymore power than a stock bike, my conclusion was they where noise makers and that was about it

Nice project, looks like yazza’s old bike That bike inspired me to build my 443. well I have the 443 engine on the shelf, along with all its ancillaries, last time out it ran 109bhp, so I might sling it in my YPVS rolling chassis for a giggle !

Nice project, looks like yazza’s old bike it was, but I threw it down the track a few years ago and its been sat in the naughty corner ever since and with having 4 other projects to get on with, realistically I'll never get round to fixing it, so Gary getting the rolling chassis was the next best thing, at least it will be used rather than gathering dust as for my other projects, they may end up going as well if I don't get on with them soon

Wow I remember him talking about it and starting a build thread must be at least 10 years ago as my other passion was always Ducati and I’d been a member for years. So has he built another one as well? As the advert says he has stopped this build? The reason it resonated was because he’d bought a tamiya 1/12th scale model and that inspired him. not that I am aware of, as far as I know he has only made the one, so maybe somebody else started on one and lost interest ?

here is the full build thread, I get a mention on page 47 !! --> www.ducati.community/threads/kawasaki-kr1000-endurance-replica.477/Its actually a very funny thread to read as they are always taking the piss out of Stuart (exige the poster in it) - but its also very interesting and clever how he made it - all from a plastic model and some photo's from a magazine article that he blow up and then scaled !

I remember many years ago on the Ducati forum someone talking about building one I assume it’s the same thing. If so it’s a home made frame. He did seem to know what he was talking about though. Tim, the guy is called Stuart and he has indeed built it, check out the Ducati forum, the build thread is still ongoing, if you are wondering how I know, well 3 reasons, firstly he lives round the corner from me, he's a big mate of my mate and I recently went and wired it all up for him (made him a full custom loom etc), its a thing to behold, the work he has put into it is unreal

I've done a few different configurations, Veg is right, I did a KR1S with a 496cc engine in it pushing 116bhp, also done several Aprilia RS250's with a 421 engines, a Mito with various engines (350, 385 and 421, 465cc's), a Kawasaki ZXR400 with a 421 in it, an FZR400 with a 392cc in it, loads of LC's with PV motors in
A mate of mine has several TDR's with different size PV motors in, all great fun to ride
Not done any honda conversions though

no completely different carb, early C/D models used a 120 main, the later E/F models used a 140/145 main

that's too high (9 ohms), the CDI won't like it, it will cause a fault, I had this out with west country windings a while back on a YPVS, they said it was fine even though the readings where too high, so I fitted a known working stator off another bike and the bike ran fine - eventually they accepted it wasn't correct, but it was a mare getting them to accept it was wrong
The CDI and coils expect a certain amount of resistance and spark energy from the exciter coils (low and high windings), if they are too far out of whack then it just doesn't work, be sure to check your pickup as well
One point to note, the transistion from the low speed windings to the high speed windings occurs between 5250 rpm and 5750 rpm normally, so you having an issue bang in the middle suggests its the high speed windings

you think your having a nightmare, imagine what it was like for me moving house and workshop all in 6 weeks and included finding a new workshop and somewhere to live and move everything - 3yrs on I am still recovering ! OK, you win 🤣 I shifted that bloody mill on Sunday. Holy feck it's heavy Bent a 500kg engine hoist loading it in the van and the poor old buggers handbrake ain't liking it 😕 Steve you think that one is heavy, my new miller is over a metric tonne, that fecker ain't being moved by me if it ever has to move that's for sure !

when you fitted the new fibre plates did you pre-soak them for 24hrs before hand in the same oil you are using in the gearbox now ?

depends which zeel you have fitted, need the model number of that first, after that you need to take the LHS exhaust off and setup your PV range, so using either the hand held programmer or a laptop and software, set the range up, first set the fully closed range setting, then set the fully open range setting.
They can be a mile out from stock, especially if the cables aren't adjusted correctly, or the zeel was fitted and then the cables not adjusted or checked
If the valves are either under opening or over opening then the engine will die on its arse, normally anywhere between 7k rpm and 9k rpm depending upon how its set to open etc and how far out the valves are

unfortunately there are around 20 reasons (I kid you not) for the mid range stutter, I'd say 40% of all the bikes I get in, is to fix that problem.
Reeds can be the culprit, so its one of the options, if you want to go back to a good starting point, buy some brand new petals (they are still available, if stuck contact me as I stock Genuine Yamaha ones), they aren't expensive either
As for all of the other reasons, well without sounding unhelpful, its what I do for a living, so I am not about to give away all the knowledge I've learnt over the past 40+years

I have a prototype adapter plate for the LC to Athena barrels on the bench, I am just playing (when I get chance) with exactly how thick I need it and how I can make it into a kit form as I get asked alot for big bore LC's and while I have my 68mm LC barrels on test, I am someway off making them for people as time isn't my friend right now !
Will be interesting to see how you get on with the project, good luck

I have some 10mm fuel pipe, but its very thick walled, its a snug fit on the 500's, got to make sure you route it right otherwise it gets kinked and restricts the flow
