I spotted a that the o-ring on the OEM one has some orangey/brown sealant/adhesive under it to hold it in. It is not a full seal by the look of it.
Has anyone got a new Tourmax one to verify if there is any sealant under the o-ring?

I do have a new Tourmax one, but it's already fitted and I didn't look under the o-ring seal, just checked it had one and bolted it on. Sorry.

Yes, Tourmax has sealant holding the o ring underneath.

I wonder what the sealant is for, as the LC tap as 4 tight spots around the o-ring groove to hold it in???

Is the tourmax tap worth buying thanks Plenty of us use the Tourmax, in fact most of us. Lots of threads about it on here. Always worth a search if wondering about stuff like this as you'll find the info rightaway.

Or its belt and braces wrt the seal against the tap casting surface. The steel of the tank is probably a better compression seal surface.

I do wonder whether it’s an installation thing? Maybe the sealant oozes out when the tap is fitted and forms a seal with the tank to take up any discrepancies?

I think it is just to keep the rubber ring in place when fitting.

I think it is just to keep the rubber ring in place when fitting. As Rob said, there are 4 tight spots in the o ring groove to keep the o ring in, so I don’t think it’s for this. As I said before, I think it’s a first time fit thing with it squishing out to form a seal with the tank if I had to guess? Jon
