Not NOS but have a pair of original 31K pipes that were just over a year old when they came off to be replaced with a set of Stan Stephens/Lomas pipes, been hanging up in Dad's garage ever since.

I have always wondered about wearing a go pro or whatever make. I can understand people wanting to record rides especially if somewhere special with fantastic views or like my brother in law used one when he raced the Manx. Downside is they do have quite a large degree of viewing angle which will pick up speedo and rev counter as well as recording speed will also show up any dodgy overtakes, manoeuvres, bend swinging etc. Mounting on helmet or top yoke will show clocks. Usefull though if someone T-bones you or causes you to crash but surely could be used against you too. Just my thoughts, not that I speed at all obviously.

Hi Phil It really is not that bad. I cannot get to my bike at the moment as it is burried in the garage trapped in by building materials. From memory and what I can see leaning over and lifting the cover. 1. The oil tank top mount i have put a 6mm ish spacer to space away from fixing point and fro memory the bottom mounting put on the outside of the fixing point. 2. Coolant reservoir side I have a 12-15mm spaces at the top and again moved the tank bottom fixing to the outside of the mounting point, I think unfortunately cannot quite see it and did the work a few years ago now and memory faded a bit. 3. The bolts on the bottom yoke I ground the head down so they are thinner but just a enough the clear the tanks. It is tight. 4. Ignition barrel I purchased an after market one as the bolts that fix the barrel to the underside of the yolk are larger diameter than the standard ones. To get the steering lock to work had to do a little grinding if memory serves me right to get enough lock for mechanism to engage (not the off the bike frame) 5. I used an 600 Fazer swingarm which is cheap enough the buy and NK Racing worked his magic installing the brackets he also sets the brackets to maintain the correct rear ride height as the rear wheel being 17 inch is supposedly slight smaller diameter despite being a larger section rear tyre. Just took his advise but i did also fit a Nitron rear shock which has adjustable ride height.
Some people recommend heating up tanks and moulding them to fit but I did not want to chance doing this. The nuts on the bars clamps do come close to the tank but they do clear okay. It’s all easy enough to do and is as bolt in as you are likely to get.
My bike I posted Sept 5th 2013. Not sure how to add link but if you search posts by Richb it is the first post I created. Rich

That is a beautiful bike. Are you using that bike as a donor or is the RS framed a completely separate bike thus going to end up with 2 beauties Rich

Although MotoGP cancelled it appears that Moto3 and Moto2 are still being run this weekend as the teams were already there testing and they provide superb racing so still well worth watching.

That is stunning and would cost more than that to build from scratch surely as long as that is your thing of course. I would buy if had the money would love one of this type of bike. Sanctuary style big Zeds are expensive bikes and there seems to be healthy interest in them on forums.

These guys are f-----g nuts. The Manx is for amateurs doing it just because they want to. I have been 4 times and worked as pit crew 3 times for my brother in law and it is scary even in the pits waiting for your rider to come past. 1st year 2010 riding a VTR SP1 in one race he ran out of fuel at Hillberry only couple of miles from finish but you do not know that until some one lets you know, lesson learned brim tank up just as they go out onto start, 2nd race all good. 2011 all good then 2012 last race on the Friday day before getting married on the Saturday on the island crashed last lap due to fog and damp at the 32 mile post whilst in 12th position. Again we did not know until race control confirmed he was in the air ambulance on way to Nobles hospital. Man that was tense and even worse for wife and his mum and dad and sister all waiting in the grandstand. He still made it for the wedding but has definitely in pain and sore. Went back one last time in 2013 and thankfully has now called it a day on the island but we did do Tandgragee and Cookstown in 2015 - equally as scary. . Definitely not for me racing and I really doubt I would want to be pit crew again.Absolute top respect to these guys and the adrenaline rush must be unreal

Great idea, but I'm struggling to see it really getting off the ground at fifty grand? You could spend 20 grand on an RGV and you'd have a bike that is probably better. I love the fact that people are still willing to invest money in this stuff, but ultimately it's going nowhere, we won't be seeing rows of them on showroom floors, there just isn't the sales volume for fancy two strokes anymore. Never say never lets be optimistic although have to admit hard to be on this one. But vinyl has made a comeback with the new generation who never experienced it. Problem is would need a big volume manufacture to make a range of two strokes again for a new generation to realise what they have missed out on. KTM and some other smaller factories in the off road world still produce them but mainly for competition bikes but you would have to believe that with new electronics, fuel injection, new materials for filters keep being developed the techonology is probably there. Unfortunately with all the big car manufacturers investing in electric vehicles it is only a matter of time before the big bike manufactures come on board more than they are now so 4 stroke bikes will probably fad away too. Harley are already producing electric bikes and lets be honest one of the appeals of a Harley is the sound they make so who would have thought they would be pushing the electric route. Rich

Welcome to the forum, I’m just outside Gloucester. Have been to a couple of bike nites this year, did you go to the Thunder Road nite there was 3 LC,S there one with a power valve engine installed. My 500 is currently off the road for no other reason than just to busy extending and renovating house but planning on being back in the road in the spring, hopefully. Rich

Jon, I have been to the April show before (albeit probably 4 -5 years ago) and it was quite a bit different to the October show. It has a lot more vintage/older bikes, more British bikes and a lot less Japanese classics. It may have changed since then but check out exhibitors list before going unless of course that is also your passion.
The October show is my preferred show even though this year what is normally a 1 1/2hrs journey from Gloucester took over 3 hours with the last 2 miles taking 1 1/2hrs due no doubt to the amount of rain we have had and getting vehicles into the fields to park. We were there on the Saturday and did not get into the show until nearly 1pm having left home around 9.30am. We left at 5pm and only just got out of the field thanks to a security giving us a push and there was already 3 vans and a motorhome waiting for the tractor. It was lovely flat field we had never parked in before so god only knows what it must have been like on Sunday. Having said that still a thoroughly enjoyable show and very busy.

Hair bear bunch - brilliant used to love them. Throwing arrows - blimey that brings back some memories we used to call them Dutch arrows. We used pieces of dowel or garden cane, taped a couple of 4 inch nails to the end, playing card for flights and let rip over what we used to call The Back - a piece of land at the back of some houses on the estate. Dangerous and stupid looking back now. They used to go in all directions with the odd one ending up in some ones back garden, stuck in fences but we did at least make sure no one was in the direct line of fire when we launched them. We were only 10 or 11 years old. I can also remember at this age disappearing off up Robinswood Hill on our bikes on our own which was a good mile or 2 away and being gone all morning or afternoon - crazy really, now at 54 years old worry like mad when the grand kids are over the field and out of sight, probably because remember what we used to get upto. Olden The Golden Days, ahhhh. Oh to be a kid again no worries, not a care in the world, of course we did not have facebook, snapchat, twitter, mobile phones blah blah blah for our parents to worry about

I have been using Aspen for 3 years now in my lawn mower and strimmer on the advice of the shop I bought the strimmer from after he commented that come spring each year their workshop is full of petrol engine machines that will not start as carbs all gummed up due to the sh-t fuel we are now being sold. Since using the Aspen I have had no problems at all, only trouble is £18 for 5 litres. Bit expensive to run the bikes on during riding season but will now be draining down bikes and putting 5 litres of Aspen in shortly for winter. Should stop carbs gumming up and hopefully help to stop fuel tanks rusting from the inside.

That's the problem when we start messing with different forks, wheels, footrests and exhausts something is going to foul or not work as ideally would. My 500 with different forks and wheels, swingarm and Lomas pipes standing on standard side stand leans over a quite concerning angle - stand too short so have to be careful with camber on roads. Have a triumph side stand to try just have not gotten around to having a go at fitting it but hopefully will lift the bike a bit more upright.

In standard form they do not overly rev they do drop off around 9.5k so sounds about right, will rev more with after market pipes and some tuning if that's what you want. Do a compression test to check all okay and check carbs are properly synched.

She'd punch my lights out if I tried this at home. Years ago when I was single I heated a chain grease tin up on the stove and dropped chain in, then for some reason took the short cut through the lounge on way to back garden tripped on mat and spilt molten chain grease all over the carpet. That took some getting out, thankfully heavily patterned carpet and the slight stain it did leave was not that visible. The joys of being single.
