Fairing moulded and made by King Carbon from a 1991 YZR500 that I adapted for the RZV500R / RD500 / RZ500 - it can take the original airboxes and radiator , although this version has a 34mm carb, air filter and throttle cable kit by Bill Wilson and a larger radiator for the RZ/RZV/RD500 from RG500.com.
Swingarm and wheels are Yamaha R6 2CO, Brembo brakes and Ohlins forks and fittings were done by NK Racing. The seat unit needed a modified sub-frame which was done by GIA of Nottingham. Exhausts are Jim Lomas (JL) with NK Racing silencers
Engine was rebuilt by SEP of Kegworth and put together by myself, and will hopefully be tuned by Daz , which will mean it coming apart again
Rear set brackets are by NK Racing and the pegs and levers are Harris Performance with a Brembo master cylinder with integral reservoir and internal spring.
Still lots of work to do but slowly getting there.
I'm going to have some frame bracing done at the back of the frame and at the headstock. M.E. Motorcycles of Burton will be doing all the finishing touches like the frame bracing, wiring loom, Zeeltronic CDI/YPVS, chain, brake lines, etc, etc over the winter.
I might try and persuade GIA at Nottingham to make me a new alloy tank which is a little bit longer and slightly lower than the original RD tank. It doesn't begin to compare with the YZR replicas that I've seen recently but fingers crossed it will be a nice bike when I've finished it.

That will be fab mate, good luck with it all, sounds and looks like you've done most of the hard work.

I'm lucky that I bought a RD500 and a luton van full of RD500 spares including a spare engine back in 2005 when you couldn't give these things away - so I was able to do the 1GE and this RZV - at todays prices I wouldn't even be able to think about these bikes - btw you'll be pleased to know the RZV frame had a damaged rear sub-frame so I haven't ruined a nice original bike.
Cheers Paul

I was thinking of something like this photoshopped image .....
Maybe I could just paint the tank grey ?

Ahh of course. Still think it looks amazing. Better design than any factory bike I think.

A bit spaghetti like above but I’m trying to get gentle curves on the throttle cables to minimise the force required opening the throttles.
I might see if I can get some good quality black fuel line to replace the transparent pipes.
Cheers paul

Brilliant work Paul. This bike is just epic. The updates need to be "stepped up" to frequent. Following with great interest.
Cheers, Mark
