Thanks for the advice chaps, I can sleep soundly now. Started having a panic attack that the engine I had bought was a lash up of left over RD bits.

Desperate people who don't know about the nice folk on this forum buy that type of shite.

This post has got me thinking. I was a bit of a dick when I bought my engine a couple of years ago that I'm using for my project. It has been restamped with 4L0 numbers, it has 1UA cylinders and 31K heads; how do I know the engine came from an F2? Any suggestions?
Sorry to hijack the post Nikfubar!

Looks good mate! Might have to get down B&Q when the sale madness has subsided.

I'm mucking around with phosphoric acid to get the rust out; I'm going to attempt it when the weather is a bit nicer. Will post pictures with results! Just google 'phosphoric acid petrol tank' and look into it.

Cheers fella, looks interesting. Your RD is looking amazing by the way. Swingarm conversion looks really clean and the rest of it is something else. Top work.

Looks mint that mate, only problem with mine is the bolts ar on the back side of both yokes. I'm going to have to have a bracket off the mid-point of the fork leg between the yokes I think. Just out of interest what did you make the bracket out of?

TV nearly as big as the room and a motorbike bike next to it. Proper working class.

I'm full of questions today; anyone got any suggestions on how to mount a single round headlight to a set of Aprilia RS125 forks. I'm sure plenty have done it with RGV front ends and they are probably a similar diameter fork leg.
I'm going to be running a set of N2 clocks but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to bracket them onto the ignition mounts on the top yoke as I've done this before.
Your help would be appreciated
Thanks
Nico

I'm not arsed about matching numbers; engine and frame came from different places. The missing bit is a bit of a funny shape me thinks.

Now then, my engine casing has previously had some grief from a flying chain: I do not have the piece of casing that has snapped off; presumably it is in some hedge somewhere. Any advice on how this can be repaired on the cheap? The engine is coming apart anyway so I'm not sure whether to just get new cases but I don't like waste so would prefer to repair where possible. It's not going to be a show bike but would like to get it sorted as I don't want lubed legs. Thanks Nico

Pictures of other side as requested: And one from the top showcasing the phone modification: Just fitted some stainless engine mounts from Norbo, they look cracking; cheers mate. Nico

Looks great mate, you've obviously put a hell of a lot of hard work in. It looks super clean; sorry to hear about the pipes but you won't care when you're gunning the back roads!

That's looking spot on mate. I've got a HRC brake pipe on one of my other bikes; have you had any problems with it building up condesation on the outside of the pipe? Mine keeps getting little droplets on it, it is stored in a cold, wet shed though.

You could use a 125 right hand chain wheel, just turn it round. Then turn the front round to match! You're going to have fun whichever way you go.

Good luck with it mate. Nigel did my frame and did a great job; he's a busy bloke though so I hope there is an Xmas lull and we can have a look at your pictures. I'm a new member too so looking forward to seeing how you get on.

Cheers mate, I got confused between 'banjo', 'bleed' and 'nipples' somewhere near the middle of this thread. It sounded painful and I panicked. I will try it tomorrow!

Good thinking, it's just a bit messy; brake fluid is also vicious stuff.

F2 ones do not appear to be held in by anything. The replacement glasses from Norbo are thinner therefore I'm unsure how to make it stay in the hole!

Have a look at Aprilia RS125 wheels or any of the 1990's Jap 125's. I'm sure a few of them have 140 rears. Mitos might be worth a look too.

It's pretty cheap is meths; just mix with milk and imbibe. It takes the edge off the day.
