I don't get this comment:
'I ALSO HAVE THE V5 AND NOT A V5'
He sounds scary. I don't want to think about him anymore as I might not be able to get to sleep.

You can get phosphoric acid pretty cheap on ebay. I went into a garden centre to try and get some and I think they thought I was some sort of geordie terrorist (like Raul Moat on a grander scale). I'm not kidding you when I put it on this rusty sprocket it kicked the shit out of the rust, it was bubbling off.
It would be interesting to play around with the dilution of it as it might be a bit better than vinegar. I was boiling a master cylinder in the kitchen the other day and I chucked a bit of balsamic in there; it made the house smell like an old man's nappy.
I was planning on giving it a quick wash with diulted bicarbonate of soda and then finish it off with a swill o' meths. Then drying and getting the POR in there.
Any thoughts or potential hazards in this approach?

Cheers for the link mate, I've added some more pictures to the thread.
As for the UGGs; she wanted some special ones that you can only get from the shop. b*****d.

Has anyone tried to use phosphoric acid to remove rust from a fuel tank? I looked into electrolysis but iI don't trust myself; something will go wrong!
I have a litre of 82% phosphoric acid and it can be watered down. Tried it neat on a rusty sprocket and it demolished the rust in about ten minutes.
Thanks

Where's the bike in the house thread? I need to perve on other machines being kept warm through the winter months.
As for the Micron GP cans, will they fit seeing as though it won't have stock rearsets and the swingarm is not standard? There was a chap called Kenny who was on the other forum, I was thinking about looking into him to build me a set.
Will try and get that picture of the other side of the swingarm up this week; I 've been busy buying the Mrs a set of UGG boots. £170! I keep thinking about it and all the spangly bits of metal I could have for that sort of money. I've got my head in my hands right now.

Cheers for your comments so far. I'm keeping the standard seat unit; I don't want to deviate too much from the overall 'look' of the RD as it is good as it is. I'm building a TZR supermono after the RD so I'll go a bit silly with that I think. It will look more in proportion when it has some tyres on it and I plan to get a 17" RVF wheel as it has a VFR on at the moment so I can roll it about when I'm making calls to relatives and loved ones.
With regards to any possible offset in the rear wheel I haven't got a clue. The rear shock shock is not central to the frame therefore it is difficult to judge by eye, however it looks central to the subframe and in line with the front wheel which is good enough for me. NK Racing also supplied a Talon offset front sprocket so the chain line is bang on.
I figured fitting a completely different type of swingarm was too much for one man in a small house (with no where to put his phone) so I enlisted the help of a professional who has experience in this sort of thing. One of my mates did the same thing with a Bandit/VFR swingarm and it was a right cack on. NK Racing did it for £350. Nigel who runs the company is a spot on fella to deal with and I would use him again. In my opinion his work is very good, and without sounding too much of a bell end, his attitude towards creating specials and delivering what someone wants (without persuading you otherwise) was refreshing.
You can't beat a bit of Newcastle Brown, I'm a Boro lad living in Cheshire so why I like the brown stuff is beyond me. It takes the pain away. I'll try and post some pictures of the other side of the bike in the next few days. Got to go to the shops tomorrow night to buy the Mrs some Ugg boots knowing that the money would be better spent on a brand new loom (or a cordless phone) I need to keep her sweet so she will let my petrol tank stay in the bath tub)
Ta ta

Hi there, I have used some of the other forums a bit but this one looks like it has a strong contigent of RD shed dwellers. I started my RD project a couple of years ago, but some other bikes got in the way. This is where I'm up to now: It has a RS125 front end and a RVF400 back end grafted on by Nigel at NK Racing. I'm building from bits, which probably isn't the best idea, but I fancied it challenge and it will help me get a greater understanding of what does what. The bike now lives in my front room as I don't have a garage: As it was in my front room I mounted my house phone on it so I can make calls whilst sat on the bike. There's not a lot of room so it's all about maximising space: It appears that you chaps love pictures so here's one of the new top shock mount, I think Nigel did a cracking job: And to finish, a shot of my last project which I think turned out quite funky; I know it's a diesel but it's a great little bike: Any comments, suggestions, pointers, pitfalls or advice would be welcomed. Everything that needs to be will be powder coated and all bolts will be stainless. I need exhaust, loom, rear sets, headlight and mount, switchgear and of course need to paint the buggers. Thanks for looking. Nico
