The BSB times are an hour ahead of those above, as it's from Spain. Good first race, and the WSB has been entertaining too! Good point, my bad π€¦π»ββοΈ I only posted as I made the exact same mistake when I read the schedule from the bsb site. Not used to time zone changes for BSB these days (since Assen was dropped)!

What's it like to ride? I've always found them fascinating. Used to ride out to Three Legged Cross to look at the expensive Italian exotica as a lad on my FS1E. Much drooling over unaffordable bikes as a teen!

Strewth Rigga. That must have been terrifying, for you and your wife.
You seem to have a good approach to it, not stressing over the things you can't control. I hope you make as full a recovery as possible. Wishing you both all the best.

...plus all these "keyless" stupid cars which are a peice of pish to steal - bleeding modern rubbish made by idiots who think electronic gizmo's are unfallible There seen to be a lot of examples of using newer technology, because it can be, rather than because it brings something needed in capability these days. Or perhaps I'm getting older and grumpier!

Sadly, my Dad passed away just before Xmas. Gladly, he left me some fun toys to play with. This is just the tip of the iceberg. His shop is FULL of cool old stuff. βThe jet going thru engine would not be goodβ π€£ Sorry to hear that. Hope you find sorting through things cathartic. I found going through my Dad's stuff after he died made me feel really close to him, it brought back lots of good memories. Hope it's the same for you.

My garage is currently demolished so I sneaked some into the house. That solved the condensation issue. My partner's Mother is also downsizing which means I'll have to move a few more bikes in soon.. I'd look after that RG for you if you run out of room!

I think they did Chrissy proud, and it's good that the podcast will continue, albeit it won't be the same. Was a tough listen. Great to hear the love for Chrissy, and each other, but I found it emotional.

I'm hoping to semi retire at 55 as stuck in the chronic health dilemma Do I work till retirement then have no quality of life or Bugger off at 55 I'm lucky that I can still work full time but knackered after work so I don't have the energy or inclination to do anything so work/life balance is wrong As I've gotten older and have known more people who're 15-20yrs ahead of me retire I've started to realise that we shouldn't assume that we'll work to retirement and then it's all sunlit uplands. I've known two great chaps who died within 12mths of retirement, and two that died a few months before making their escape. Within the constraints that we have (family obligations, finances etc.) then we need to remember to live for today, not tomorrow. (Whilst ensuring that if we make it to tomorrow we won't be homeless!). Before this relapse I had a couple of years of being in the same situation as you. Was working full time but it took everything I had. Even if my health improves again (not looking likely) I'll not go back to full time, where possible we need to find that balance you mention.

It'll be over Β£200 a week from April next year's, with the 10.1% rise . Depending on how many years you have left till retirement (SP) the amount you will receive will be above that. Mostly eroded I assume by inflation, although that's forecast to fall sharply in 23. I'm 3 years short of the full NI pension due to lots of years in a contracted out pension, was going to purchase the missing years nearer state pension age depending on state of health making it worthwhile living long enough to break even , might sign on around 64 and claim JSA if they are going to pay my stamp, who'd employ a crinkly at that age, I reckon no one . Currently living off my works pension at 57. What we'd all give for a crystal ball to aid retirement planning! Isn't there some kind of cut off for purchasing previous years worth of NI credits that ends this FY? Martin Lewis had an article on it on the money saving expert site. I've forgotten the details (clearly!) but might be worth a look. Also apologies if you're already aware of it. I'm lucky that I'm on a final salary scheme, which closed to new entries 2yrs after I joined the business, 25yrs ago. However I'm unlucky in that I've a chronic illness which means I can only just WFH and part time. I'm not ill enough for ill health retirement. I'm stuck in the middle. I've been trying to work out ways to retire as early as possible. I'm 48 and even getting to 57 feels like it's near impossible, keeping this up for another 9yrs. Watching what investments we have drop by 30% on the last year hasn't helped! π

Ah nuts. GWS. I've had it twice this year. Am currently sat on the sofa with another virus, could be the 'rona again but haven't tested yet. Look at it as unexpected time for planning bike projects. Thanks for the get well wishes Was planning a bike project weekend to get my frame guy to have a look at this as frame needs some minor changes But C-19 put paid to thatπ I like what you're putting together there. π

Properly gutted by his death. What a lovely bloke, clever, kind and indecently fast on a bike. Can't imagine what his family and close friends are going through. RIP Chrissy.

I am 56 and have had constant headaches for over 10 years, and have had ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for about 4 years now. I've also got M.E. Relapsed just over 3 years ago and it's really f**ked things up for me. Can only work part time from home, and can barely get out the house these days. Takes everything I've got to do work and a tiny bit round the house to try and take some of the pressure off my wife. The bikes will have to go in the next 12mths, when I can spend some energy to get them ready to sell. The only upside is at least there's some research happening now showing it's a physical malady. Have you signed up for this study? First large genetic study looking for clues that might lead to treatment and cures. www.decodeme.org.uk/

There was a dunlop combo which some used to run when I raced my 250. I had part worn 22/23s but tbh I think that was a mistake as the chatter was awful and they were oversize. The Dunlops were closer to stock size, race only compound, and the race winners used them from cold (barring the warm up lap). I'll see if I can dig out my old notes of you like.

Then why is my unit rate jumping 50% and the daily charge went from 21p to 60p π€¬ I was reading about this a while back. TBH the details are lost on me now but it's something to do with the fact that all energy providers dump energy into the national grid and then the separation between green and fossil generated energy is lost. Ofgen have said before that it's not as clear cut as its sold to consumers. It doesn't seem right, but I wonder if there'll be more pressure to change things like this now.

I hope they take plenty of spare engines across with them. It should have the power but will the handling suit MD at the TT and will it stay together for six laps? I wouldn't give a twin much hope. I hope it does. looking forward to seeing it. There's been one of the V4Rs in the EWC for the last couple of years. Engines will probably get swapped out a few times but I think reliability should be OK. It's not as bad as when they were over stretched twins.

Seems a bit pointless on the bikes to me. My mate and I used to run ours without kick starts, paddle them forward, bump it in 2nd. Is there a reason the banshees would need this? Are they particularly high compression? My old C25 was a git to start, unless you knew the knack. When I sold it I spent 45mins coaching the buyer on how to start it!

Good luck with the restoration, you're in the right place for advice and help. Sorry to hear about your Dad. Mine also has alzheimers and is end of life at the moment with cancer. Cherish the time you can get with him. It's hard watching them deteriorate, we've spent many hours reliving the old days and sharing happy memories. I hope you can do the same.

Pretty sure I recognise that from the tdr forum. If I'm right then the chap who built is pretty switched on. Might be worth logging in and doing some stalking?! Can't comment on the price as haven't paid much attention to what they go for now.

Is that really Ron on one of Ian Simpsons bikes? Must be from a parade? I do like the 45, but the 30 is still the best looking 4T bike they've made. Probably showing my age thinking that!

I've done it twice. 2014 on a 1964 50cc Honda , and 2015 on my 1967 BSA. I did the full thing both times, it's a bit of an endurance event and I was knackered afterwards. However it's a great experience and I met lots of nice people and visited bits of the country I'd not seen before. It took very careful on route planning, especially on the 50cc, but you'll be OK on the modern stuff. It's fun, hope you have a great time. I wrote up my 50cc experience here ridingalongwayslowly.blogspot.com/2014/07/my-rally.html?m=1
