Years ago my dad bought a really nice 250LC and everytime I was home on leave ( ex REME) it was sitting in the garage for me to use . It is Black and Red and 100% standard with the original tyres even . Now he has alzheimer and it is going to be mine a lot sooner than I had hoped and even wanted . I have not seen for years as it's in the back of his garage behind loads of stuff . When I find it I will post some photos and would like to think that collectively you will help me put it back on the road with some helpful advice. Knowing my dad it will have been well preserved and not a pile of rust . Anyway take care and maybe one day mine and my dads Elsie will be back on the road.

Hi welcome. Youve come to the right place. It all depends on what you want it to be ie a show pony or a daily rider or anything inbetween.

Hi Welcome, you have arrived at the right place. It would be lovely to get your Dad's bike roadworthy again, and hopefully he can see you restore it. Mutts, one of our Gurus, is ex REME I believe, as was my dear old Dad. Enjoy the forum Dusty

A lovely back story, through to the trials of today. I hope your old man is as well as he can be, making memories with him now would be lovely if possible. I lost my dad 2 years ago and I still miss him, but I have some lovely memories of us riding bikes together. You’ll get lots of great advice and help on here. Take care of your dad, and good luck with however you proceed with the bike. 👍

So sorry to hear about your Dad. The bike may only need a carb clean and fresh petrol. It depends on when it was last used. You'll get lots of good advice here to help you get it sorted.

As for the bike, there is no insurmountable problem on an LC You will be riding that bike, as the help, expertise and generosity on this Forum is second to none.

welcome in, I am ex-REME, vehicle tech was my discipline
Sorry to hear about your dad, but I am sure you will do him proud when you sort it
Plenty of knowledgeable people on here, you won't have an issue getting it back on the road, the only draw back is the price of parts depending upon what it might need, but again, lots of generous people on here who have secret stashes of "goodies"

Good luck with the restoration, you're in the right place for advice and help. Sorry to hear about your Dad. Mine also has alzheimers and is end of life at the moment with cancer. Cherish the time you can get with him. It's hard watching them deteriorate, we've spent many hours reliving the old days and sharing happy memories. I hope you can do the same.
