Thank you all for your suggestions, even if the topic got derailed a bit, which is not uncommon on this forum So, went to Stonehenge on my way from Heathrow. Then the bloody sat/nav took me thru the A30 and then thru some narrow roads and a few villages to get me here, which was tricky as you people drive on the wrong side of the road... Made it to Liskeard with the Port (how British is that) side mirror still in place! I’m here for business so today after work I drove to Falmouth to meet with a friend, which was nice, and the drive down there was interesting. Beautiful countryside! I don’t think Cornish people like to be called British do they? Tomorrow afternoon I will head back to London (staying close to Hyde park) for one night. Cheers Kostas

I’m heading to Liskeard at Cornwall for a few days this week.
Any good pubs or a nice Fish & Chips place over there that anyone would suggest? Or a “must see” attraction?
Thanks

There might be a way the pulley can be fitted incorrectly even if the set screw rests against the flat area of the shaft. Try to remove the pulley and flip it over, so that the face that you can see now is facing against the motor
I hope it makes sense...
Also does the pulley moves both ways at power up or it just does a full circle?

Water boil temp depends on the pressure. More pressure equals higher boil point.
Maybe this has something to do with the rad cap function..

Will more revs give more vacuum?? If the vacuum take off is downstream of the carb slide I highly doubt that it will give more vacuum..

I’m in for one if it was a group purchase.
Ideally the tanks should be bought and shipped to an EU company based at an EU country that charges the least to clear customs from third countries such as Japan. Then this EU company could ship the tanks to forum members in EU, no customs required as the parts would be allowed to circulate free in EU. If one purchasing the tank also has a company registered in the VIES system this would also allow for VAT free invoices.
Just a quick thought..

It looks like Deox has etched into the metal, I doubt that it would brush up as it used to be.
Never used it before so I might be wrong here

Afternoon Chaps. It's Afternoon question time I had this shaft stored in a box in a plastic bag and over time it gained some surface rust on parts of the last three gears. My question is would this be ok to use and would you?? Give it a rub with a scotch brite pad before you decide..

I had a good friend that helped my rebuild my RD350 pass away a month ago from cancer. He had to fight with it for a year. One week before he died I went to visit and he told me that his illness not only brought him down but his whole family was devastated by his struggles. This is what saddened him most.
I hope you and your family can keep going strong in her memory.
RIP Suzanne.

My Legend Motorcycles carb inlet rubbers for my RGV were split at the balance tube spigots before I even fitted those...

Well I pressure tested my valve engine and had this pressure drop that could not cure from the castle seals, PV bushing o-rings and primary drive gear. Could not see any leak on the crank split lines, cylinder heads base gaskets etc but checking a leak to the gearbox or even other tiny leaks at other hard to see locations (between cylinders) can be difficult or impossible. So at some point you need to call it a day and convince yourself that you can’t be 100% sure and airtight.
So,I gambled my crank bores etc and moved on... I just lost a couple of nights in my workshop, trying to figure out what the problem was just to find out that the problem was my incorrect expectations. Thats what I’m trying to say to Mellow and others that are going to read the in the future.
Most propably I have read one of Rob’s threads on pressure testing these engines before I went on with it and it must have helped me but I didn’t test my engine when I had to change the inlet rubbers or every time I take my plugs off.. I just fit and move on with it

You are good to go... Me thinks that all this pressure testing is modern day BS from us babysitting our bikes. Leak test it to prove your cases don’t leak and that’s all Leak down testing is just for people who don't like to gamble with their pistons/bores/cranks/heads, otherwise you are playing Russian Roulette with your engine. You might get lucky...or you might not. You might have misread that. Leak test to prove your cases are not leaking and that’s all. I struggled when I tested my YPVS engine as it was leaking thru the castle seals and from the primary drive gear. Both were slow leaks but no chance it would hold that alleged 5 psi for 5 minutes as other people claim. Also struggled to find published info on how Yamaha, or on my recent RGV build Suzuki, instructs the pressure test to be done. If anyone has these instructions please share in the forum.

Flip over- cable tie as Steve suggests and completely remove the bottom half. Rotate the seal 90 degrees before refitting and make sure the seal grooves are clean
Pain it is but has to be done

It does seem that you have pinched the seal right on the split line. It may cause the cases not to sit completely flush...
Is it a genuine Yama seal?

I had the exact same problem. It was 2 stroke oil leaking from the case joint.. the fuel evaporates and the oil is left behind. I cleaned the engine and started it up.. a few minutes later oil was running between the cases.

You could find a picture of a bike like the one you are doing and “photoshop” it to your colors. At least you will gat a better picture of what you will end up with..
