Any tips please on fitting a new clutch mechanism bearing in the top of the crankcase on a YPVS, seems a very tight fit. Cheers wang

I did one years a go and heated the cases up first but that bearing seems very fragile doesn't it ?
Think someone did it a few days a go and used a bolt and washers to draw it in

Hi Yea, a tight fit for sure. Warm up the casing, and bearing in the freezer for an hour first. Grease the outer shell, and use a long bolt with a washer each end to draw it in. Think someone just added pics in the resto section. Don't be tempted to knock it in - the draw bolt is far kinder to the bearing Dusty

Recently had to take mine out ahead of blasting. I used a slide hammer bearing puller and that was a bitch as it was. Tighter than a Nun's chuff...

Had to remove it before vapour blasting, it was a got to get out, ended up putting it on the gas hob and using a slide hammer. The bearing was knackered, been stood, exposed over 10 years!

Yeah, I had the same problem but needed assistance from my local engineering shop to get the pig out. Replacement was straightforward enough. As the guys suggest, new bearing in the freezer before hand, warm the casings up (I sat the case on the radiator for a bit and it got well hot) then using a big bolt and nuts with some heavy washers to pull the new one in. rdlccrazy.proboards.com/thread/46798/31k-boxes?page=2Job done

Are you fitting an original OEM Yamaha bearing, or a LMC/Legend one??? The LMC/Legend ones are slightly oversize and will be even more difficult to fit than a standard one.

I had some of both of their bearings...both sh1te fit... Apparently, they've sold hundreds without any problems!! More likely people haven’t bothered complaining. I bought some and by the time I got round to trying them a year or so had passed since purchase and I had no receipt. As they were relatively low cost I chalked it up. In a way counter productive on their part as they couldn’t have made that much profit on them, but now I think twice about buying from them, so if others have done the same they must have lost a fair bit of business? Might be worth creating a thread about them with a poll so people can record if they had trouble or not, and see how many did? Jon
