A very very common thing on the V5's on Yamahas, is to have a 0 (Zero) instead on the - (hyphen), so that gives a seven digit number number after the 3 digit prefix (starting with a zero obviously). I'd suggest you try and strip the paint carefully where the numbers should be (I've done a couple in the past by masking the area and using paint stripper or thinners etc.) Thing is, if you can't see the frame number, how do you know the identity of the bike ?, or that the V5 you have is for that frame ?. A visible VIN/Frame number is required on all vehicles registered on or after 1st August 1980. If one can't be found an MOT shouldn't be possible and the DVLA informed !. Good luck changing any frame number on a V5 with DVLA

If I'm right, the 10X import model was restricted compared the the UK model ?.
I'm sure someone with more knowledge will confirm the things that are different (smaller carb etc.)

Oh ok, if it has 10W stamped on it, that's it.
I think the German imports have 11Y stamped on the carbs, mine does.

And the carb ?.

Post by looey on Apr 26, 2015 16:53:48 GMT 1
If it's a 10W with a 10W pipe on it, then it will be unrestricted.
Do you know where it was imported from ?. What's the carb on it ?, 10W, 11Y ?.
It will go better in the power band with an aftermarket pipe (Allspeed, Micron etc.) but will be more peaky and flatter upto 6,000rpm.

My Grey Hybrid is lurking in the background somewhere. Didn't dyno it, only had 68 miles on the clock since the rebuild. Dunno if you saw in the other post ?, but the R1-Z only made 32hp on the dyno (it was flying the last time I rode it at Cadwell). Got home took the YPVS pulley cover off and the pulley bolt felt out on the floor (oops.....lol) Goes a lot better now with the YPVS not stuck closed....

Just got back. Great day and nice to meet some new faces and see some familiar ones again Tracey was a bit dissapointed that her R1-Z only made 32hp on the Dyno , we suspected the powervalves. Just got home, removed the pulled cover, and the pulley centre bolt fell out on the floor Fitted the pulley back on tight, checked the adjustment (all good), took it up the road and it bl**dy flies now !. I'll get some pics up later

I think most people are arriving at Gibsons 10:00 - 10:30 onwards ?. We could leave the Garage at 10:15 and anyone who wants to ride from there just turn up whenever suits up until that time ?.

Spoke to Tony today, he said 9:30 onwards Didn't we all meet at the petrol station just before the Dartford crossing (travelling northbound) last year ?. I think you get off at the A2 junction, then take the exit that would put you back onto the M25 (crossing bound) but then keep left and go up the slip road, which takes you up to the roundabout with the petrol station on the left. I'm happy to meet anyone or just see you there ?.

The valves will spin through 360 degrees and can be upside down.
When they are the correct way up the screw/bolt heads on the centre clamp between the cylinders will be at the top.

Me and the misses should be down Boxhill late morning tomorrow for a Tea and a Toasted Teacake.
Possibly onto Newlands Corner after.
I'll be on my grey Hybrid LC and the misses on her red/white R1-Z.
