Yeah, would be very interesting to see if the frame has been modded to take the 31k stuff or is a ringer as you say

Oh yeah I knew that but he says in the advert that it's a 1WT but built as a 31K ?.
Is that not posssibly then ?, tank fitment and frame lugs etc. ?.

I don't know enough about them, what's up with it ?.
Looks like the engine number is possibly missing the lines ?.

Yeah all of those things but float height too low, not too high. The higher the float height, the earlier it will close the needle seat. Best bet is to whip the floats off, get the needle valve out and make sure it hasn't worn a groove or got any debris stopping it seating properly. If it all looks good, get it back together and check the float height is correct

You don't really need to re-jet if the only change is an Allspeed pipe and everything else is completely standard.
Despite popular belief an RD125LC will go just as well with a 12A, 10W or 11Y carb.

Very nice that, gonna be a beaut when it's finished Is it just an optical illusion in the picture or has it got a really short wheelbase ?. The rear wheel looks really tucked in and the front rake looks very steep ?.

Yes the 12A carb on standard setup will give full power with an unrestricted exhaust. The motors are identical (there is only a 10W engine) but the 12A exhaust is restricted by a tube welded in at the top of the downpipe If it runs ok as is, then maybe just be careful until you know it's not running lean Like I said, maybe the 10W needle jet (emulsion tube) works with the 155 main jet in the 12A carb (never tried that).

If you're running a 12A carb, I'd be careful running a 10W spec main jet. The 12A carb has a 185 main jet standard standard and the 10w a 155. It could be that the 10w needle jet will pull the extra fuel through the smaller main jet as it immulsifies the fuel but if it doesn't you'll risk holeing the piston If I were you I would run the 12A carb exactly as it should be (unless you start changing filters and pipes) cos despite popular belief, the bike will go just as well with a 12A carb (I have every combination of bike and carb combination and they all go pretty much the same). You should be ok with an 11Y pipe, as they weren't restricted anywhere but the UK (12A). If it doesn't squirt up to 90mph pretty quick (depending on your weight obviously ) then something is holding it back.

10w is the unrestricted 21hp model (not learner legal), 12A is the UK specific learner legal restricted model.
If the steering lock works from the ignition, it's a UK bike, if it's on the left hand side of the headstock, it's an import.
11Y is German or French I think (someone better informed may confirm).
My Mk1 10W is an import and has an 11Y carb and is not restricted.
Hope that helps a bit

We are taking our modern bikes. The shame of it If you see us lot, we will either be on our Fizzies or a selection of larger 2-strokes (diesels strictly not allowed)

Yeah they are fitted. All they do is sit in the small gap between crankcase and frame and prevent the engine twisting to the left under torque from the chain, hence why they are only fitted to opposite corners. Can only fit them one way as they are D shaped. That will explain why my left downpipe has also started to cracked on one of the cone welds I'll get the pipe repaired and the spacers fitted and that should sort it Cheers all

Cool, ta. They've never been fitted on my Hybrid but after a recent engine rebuld which included all new engine mount bushes it feels a bit more vibey. I think it's down to the new bushes being stiffer and the fact that the damper spacers are missing . They look a weird shape in the parts diagram, is it obvious how they fit or do they need to be fitted a certain way around ?. Cheers again

Quick question chaps ........
When fitting a YPVS engine (1WT) in a 4L0 frame, should it have the 2 engine mount Spacer Washers fitted (4L0-15328-00) ?.
I assume they fit as per the parts diagram (on offside top mount and nearside bottom mount) and fit in-between the engine mount bush and frame/mount bracket ?.
Cheers

Just come back from 2 1/2 weeks at the TT, was our 8th year in a row. Once you've been, it will get you Did the Classic last year too and doing it again this year with a group of Fizzy nuts (plus we're all taking bigger 2-strokes)

Quick question.....
Is it possible to replace the neutral switch on a YPVS 350 engine without draining the gearbox oil or major oil loss whilst doing so ?.
Cheers

Well if you're getting 380 miles to a litre of oil at 45mpg ish, then that would be.......
380/45 = 8.444 gals petrol (38.34L), so roughly 38:1 on the oil.
Sounds a tad light on the oil to me but I also wouldn't want to be using 1L oil every 180 miles, that would be 18:1 ish !!!.
Also depends totally how you ride as to what ratio of oil you will use and what MPG you'll get.

Over-filling should make any difference to that gasket but the clutch will be throwing a lot of oil about, so you need the gasket to be 100%.

The R/H engine casing gasket goes around that coolant pipe where the pipe goes through the casing.
If the bottom loop of that gasket where it runs under the alloy coolant pipe isn't sealing, it can let oil get onto that alloy pipe which will run out onto the top of the crank case under the carbs. Make sense ?.
Could be that ?.
