Out of interest some of you guys reported 180 / 200 miles to a ltr of two stroke. I'm getting between 350 / 380 miles .. seems a big difference , I am using 250 carbs and getting 45 + to the gallon I wonder if this has any influence your thoughts gents ?

Well if you're getting 380 miles to a litre of oil at 45mpg ish, then that would be.......
380/45 = 8.444 gals petrol (38.34L), so roughly 38:1 on the oil.
Sounds a tad light on the oil to me but I also wouldn't want to be using 1L oil every 180 miles, that would be 18:1 ish !!!.
Also depends totally how you ride as to what ratio of oil you will use and what MPG you'll get.

Check the minimum stroke on the oil pump. It should be running minimum 8 thou. Any paint marks on the pump? Red or yellow?
What bike is it?

I thought you did, but it is hard to remember all of them! What is the I'd on the pulley? And how many marks are on the pulley at the full bore position?

can't remember I'd on pulley but sure there are three marks for full throttle , a dot then a small line and a larger line

A litre every 2 -3 tanks on my ypvs Steve Out of interest Steve what would that work mile wise Roughly 250 - 300 miles Bike has only done 800 - 900 miles and has used 3 full litres and fourth litre in the tank. Over all think the average ratio is just over 30-1 Steve

Ok. So I'm not that far out as you are in a good state of tune compared to my std 350 with 250 carbs ,, I've have moved the full throttle position to the last mark as it was on the dot below , so should put my mind at rest now ,,, where are these other figures of 180 / 200 miles come from , when I saw that before I thought I had a serious problem !

The oiling ratio varies according to riding style, and is not a constant.

Erm... Yeah I take My bike out for an evening's ride and I go through ~10$ worth of Gasoline and oil. Economical my 350 Ain't. Look elsewhere IF economy supercedes all else. My 600RR uses a fraction of the fuel...same runs/places, although I don't dare use the same throttle openings.. and retain my License. I occaisionally take out the Son's Yama BWS, albeit 'modded ' to 70 cc etc. etc., It too just inhales Fuel and oil... and it's just a pesky Scooter.. 2 strokes are piss poor on consumption.

Ok ..I add ~2/3% oil to each gasoline fill up. Yes the pump is fine and correctly adjusted Redundant? You bet! But IMO there is only Too Much oil when the plugs foul.

I did not see the original post so no idea what others are getting or what is right or wrong. If it helps, I monitored consumption over four years on a newly built engine (standard F2) and it averaged out at 279 miles per litre. No excessive smoke and never any sign of any tightening in the engine so I am pretty happy with things as they are.
