Hi all, New to the site, i usually mess about with differant bikes but never had an rd80 lc before, really not sure if i have bought a pup or not, you tell me, I have bought a running and 99% complete bike (minus plastics/clocks etc) but it is an import, German i think from the 10X frame prefix, no paperwork with it, i intend to use it as a donor bike and transfer everything onto a British registered frame, Just gotta find a frame now Hi Thanks and any help greatly recieved. Wanted. British Yamaha rd 80 lc frame preferably with V5,

I'd say i have got a fair donor bike, no plastics (fairing, side panels,, tail) or clocks but everything else seems there, like i say, fair donor but i didnt realise how rare British RD80 LC frames are, basically i am halfway through my project, just need a new frame
Rare as Rocking horse $hi£ British frame needed. 11A

Most of the parts for these are difficult to find there out there but some are really hard. You say you need a fairing good luck with that as well.

After spending a day ringing every breakers yard in britain, i have come to the realisation that looking for a british frame is not going to be as easy as i thought when i bought the import.

Why can't you just stick with the import and use that frame and get it registered??

If I'm right, the 10X import model was restricted compared the the UK model ?.
I'm sure someone with more knowledge will confirm the things that are different (smaller carb etc.)

German 10x model has different Headlamp Headlamp rim Kph speedo Steering lock position Indicators (front and rear) Indicator rear brackets Headlamp brackets Exhaust Loom Side stand Later German ones have different seat ie longer for a passenger and rear pegs for the passenger.
Lots of parts on the English ones start with 10x or 5r2 but parts which are specific to the English one will be marked 11a.

Hi,
i have been looking at previous posts concerning registering an import, my main issue is lack of paperwork! I didnt get a thing with it, not even a reciept, even paid cash! Hence why i only originally considered using it as a donor for an English frame, i would like to register the bike 'as is' but i get the impression it is a lot of paperwork and mounting fee's,

Get in touch with the seller and ask for a receipt with your name and address on it.

Hi all,
Ok, So i have looked into registering the bike 'as is', the Age Verification Certificate is straight forward enough (A phone call & £25) but i cannot get hold of the guy i bought the bike from, sadly he has split with his missus and buggered off! This leaves me in an awkward situation i think....
Any idea's? i am completely unsure of my options, Genuinely getting worried now, i may well have bought a PuP!
