I bought the Suzuki seal driver tool... and also the one to seat the seperate 'leg ends' on the version that has those... they were good value when i found them, probably worth a fortune today lol. As Martin says, you dont need em really... but they are some of the few genuine workshop tools i own lol I bought one of the slide hammer seal fitting tools off eBay, great idea but not good for your hands, I've got a few good blisters now..... forks now back together and in bike. They are apart.... as you all said, not too difficult, I ended up taking the main bolt out of the bottom, could not get the upper part compressed enough on my own! Now wait for the seals etc to arrive from Robinsons.

Ok, so I'll try and get them apart today, one question for those that have done it, is the whole thing going to fly apart when the top nut comes off? the video on Youtube show the inner rod being long enough to come off without there being any compression on the spring. Every other fork I have stopped has pressure on the fork top nut from the spring.
Thanks again, Phil

Hi Dusty, I just found that, looks like they maybe similar, it seems I have to pull the tube down enough to get to that nut, did your have the little pins under the top main nut? thats what may be different. IMG_1668 by Philip Millard, on Flickr

Oops just saw yours are Vj23. Don't know how they differ ? It seems the tops don't unscrew like the VJ22 ones.

FYI, DOT4 is not what you should be using in the OEM brakes... its DOT3. (it wont make any real difference to its paint stripping characteristics, but it will treat the seals correctly) Thats interesting Jon, I've been using DOT 4 on all my last couple of brake rebuilds, I thought it didnt affect the paint (my hybrid had a leak and the paint wasn't affected) but I'm more concerned about the affects on seals, is the damage a long term or short term problem?? Is it an lc2 loom or F1/N1 loom I'm asking as the pv controller wiring is slightly different on each and you can also connect it there Steve Its an LC2 loom Steve.

Where in the country are you Phil? There might be someone nearby who could test your tacho. I'm in Mid Wales, but sorted the tacho issue now, fitted one of the old ones yesterday, not the new one Thanks.

Following on from this, I had a thought this morning that have I connected the correct "new" tacho, so I have gone through the 4 and no, I had obviously connected one of the old ones, so I know actually have a working tacho. So my next question is, how have you guys who have done this mod connected the new wire into the wire from the CDI? I dont fancy cutting the wire but what other options are there??
Thanks, Phil

I've posted on here a while ago about this, I gave up last year but while I still have a bit of time before the weather gets good enough to ride I thought I'd try again. I fitted later clocks on my Hybrid and used an electronic tacho, however I have never been able to make it work. the wiring is simple enough, I've checked it and double checked it and tried all the contacts, so now over the last 18 months I have bought 4 tachos, the latest one a couple of months ago, fitted yesterday and guess what! surely I cant be so unlucky that all 4 are duff Would anybody here be happy to test them if I send them to you? I know it's a ball ache having to disconnect one and connect the other so I full understand if nobody fancies the task. Don't ask, don't get they say. Thanks, Phil

I've got the Delkelvic chambers on my GT750, they sound awesome and fit well, definitely copies of Allspeed. A word of warning though, quite a few reports on GT750 Forums about pipes breaking where the silencer flange is, not sure if the same issue could affect the RD pipes.

That really is a thing of beauty. I'm in awe once again of your skill and patience. I wish I was going to Stafford, I'd love to see the bike in the flesh and shake your hand to show my respect for your workmanship.

So, I've just tried fitting the Suzuki AP50 speedo cable to my RGV speedo drive and it don't fit. The screw on knurled nut is too big, and I think it should be a slotted cable end. gggrrr!😩 I thought all these Suzuki cables had the same fittings. Any suggestions, I need one around 950mm long??? According to the info I got the AP50 is the same thread and fitting on the speedo drive as the RGV, I did a lot of research to find the right length one for my Hybrid. Sorry if you bought the AP50 one based on my info It defo should be slotted not square. Phil

Hi all, can anybody confirm the size of the rear wheel nut for the VJ22? It measures 20mm but not sure of pitch. M20X1.5 maybe??
Thanks, Phil

I certainly don’t have a problem with the caliper🤣 How long is that speedo cable mate as I'm looking for one for a project. Did you say it was for a Suzuki Bandit 600? Cheers.👍 I've been doing some research, the Bandit cable is 930mm, I've since found that the AP50 is 810 (too short) TS's 900mm so might be good and the FR50 is 870mm. All I need to do now is decide which one to go for. Phil

Probably not far from how mine is Mine hit the 6 pots it standard position so I rotated the drive a little to route it below the caliper Steve Thats interesting Steve, I guess I can certainly do that whilst on the hunt for a shorter cable, Didnt even think about it. Phil

Hi Guys, can I pick the collective brains please, speedo cable for VJ22 front ends, what are you using? i bought one but its way too long, I seem remember somebody asking this a while back and somebody mentions the differences in length between the different options. I searched but cannot find the post of any info. I think I bought a Bandit one but as its non-genuine there is no part number to confirm that. Thanks, Phil

I thought I'd continue on this post.... so the bike is running, I stripped the carbs, put fresh fuel and plugs and it started 2nd kick, so well chuffed. Funny how things go, having had the bike nearly finished 3 years ago all the little niggly issues meant I'd put it in the naughty corner and left it alone, however, after the renewed enthusiasm and the joy of it starting meant I've got on and sorted most of the issues, and today I rode it up my driveway a few times. She seems to run well, and sounds awesome, a trip to Muttsnuts will have to be booked I think after he'd had the porting etc done i think it should be set up properly before being used in anger. Next stage is MOT.
I still have 2 niggles, one I only found today, that is the the swinging arm hits the banjo bolt of the rear brake master cylinder, I'm guessing I've done something wrong as the VJ swinging arm isn't something new on a 31K, so input please, what am I missing? the arm doesn't lightly touch, it hits the banjo bolt and stops there. Master Cylinder is Brembo. Other issue is the bloody electronic tacho, this is one of the long running things, not going to stop the MOT but I would like to sort it. I have bought 2 tachos now and neither work,( I assume no way to test a the unit off the bike?) I have tried the wire on different leads on the Power Valve servo but nothing, can anybody show me a pic of which wire from the original loom I should be connecting too.
Thanks, Phil

I just pressure tested my RD400, also did 5 mins at 5psi without dropping. I'm happy with that Looking on here it seems that YPVS seals and also reeds are common places for leaks. Not had that myself as yet. Love the hybrid. My suspicion would be the carbs or fuel flow. I use clear karting fuel lines from the tap. They don't harden and you can see the flow. Could also fit a new pit bike (banshee coil), also check that you're running either resistor plugs or boots. Then it's down to checking the stator, connections, CDI if an early 31k etc. I am using the upgraded coils, but I guess electrical is something I hadn't considered, I do have a decent spark. Phil
