Hi Guys, can I pick the collective brains please, speedo cable for VJ22 front ends, what are you using? i bought one but its way too long, I seem remember somebody asking this a while back and somebody mentions the differences in length between the different options. I searched but cannot find the post of any info. I think I bought a Bandit one but as its non-genuine there is no part number to confirm that. Thanks, Phil

I use 600 Bandit, with normal bars, not clip ons.

I used a pattern bandit too
Went to my local bike shop and he had a box of Suzuki cables
Just picked the one that was the right length
Would GS500 be similar π€

Thanks Dusty and Steve, my Bandit one is a good 40mm too long, I wonder if its not actually a Bandit one, maybe I'll buy another and see what comes.

Had OEM VJ22 but it contacted the 6 pot I had fitted. I have a speedo delete now from Jon and a GPS speedo... I'll be trying this game again tho on another RGV suspended bike in the future but with Brembos... hmm...

Probably not far from how mine is Mine hit the 6 pots it standard position so I rotated the drive a little to route it below the caliper Steve

I have had a fair bit of slack in all mine. This was the 400e; 20210905_103850 by dusty miller, on Flickr I could have routed it slightly differently and lost some of the slack - would have looked like Steve's, but it was fine so I left it as it was Dusty

Cheers.π I've been doing some research, the Bandit cable is 930mm, I've since found that the AP50 is 810 (too short) TS's 900mm so might be good and the FR50 is 870mm. All I need to do now is decide which one to go for. Phil

So, I've just tried fitting the Suzuki AP50 speedo cable to my RGV speedo drive and it don't fit. The screw on knurled nut is too big, and I think it should be a slotted cable end. gggrrr!π©
I thought all these Suzuki cables had the same fittings.
Any suggestions, I need one around 950mm long???

A few Suzuki drives look the same, but are different internally. If you are using an Rgv wheel then you most likely have an Rgv drive, in which case, a 600 Bandit speedo cable will work. Dusty

Cheers Dusty,
it's a GK76A GSX-R400 wheel but I can't quite remember what the speedo drive was from!
Pretty sure it's RGV though.π

I've just measured the two Rgv cables in my shed and they are 800mm, i fitted early Bandit 600 which are probably around 70mm longer. Andy. If you can get away with 800mm Freddie you're welcome to one of my new ones?

Phil Hey Phil, it's not your fault mate I appreciate your research.π I think they sent me the wrong cable, it says Yamaha FJ, DTR, SR, Suzuki AP50, AY50, BT49 and ZIP. Sending it back for a refund. With a bit more searching I might have found one that will do the job, 1986 Suzuki GSX-R 750R, 10mm screw over with forked cable end. ππ

Hi Andy, I appreciate your kind offer but I don't know whether the RGV 800mm cable might be a bit short.π The original one I'm replacing is 950mm but I have fitted shorter forks and a 17" front wheel instead of the original 19" one..... although thinking about it that shouldn't affect the cable length so a shorter one may work, it's a bit of a gamble? π€π

I am looking to replace an RGV cable (800mm) and need approximately an extra 70mm so just to confirm an early 600 bandit one will do?
