Does anyone have current contact info for Simon Wells? Is he still making the replacement clock faces? Also any reccomendations for needle paint or where to source replacements? If you read the whole post you’ll see the answers to your questions.

Drill it, put a small metal post in there and then make a mould around it with plasticine then fill it with JB Weld, when it’s set remove the mould and file to the correct shape, works a treat and doesn’t cost much, plus if it doesn’t work then you’ll still be able to go down the welding route, but that too would still require a bit of tidying up afterwards too.

He only thing I don’t like about the Fein tool is the sliding ON / OFF switch they get gummed up if you cut bricks or plaster.

I think the circlip is spring loaded and you need to get a screwdriver on it and release it,it should only go one way, the lock assembly / body should then push outwards. You can get replacement locks or adjust the tumblers to make a different key work.

As long as the inner cable and outer sleeve is the correct length then I don't think it matters which cable manufacturer you use, unlike some other cables. If the inner / outer is wrong you'll never get the valves adjusted correctly.

Ideally then a combination of the 2 - on a double ended spanner at least

Are there any benefits between the 2 types available? I have various of each but am looking to get a new set so wondered on the best type to get, 6 point should be ideal in a perfect world as they - in theory fit exactly, 12 point - gives more contact points?
So what - if any is the consensus of opinion between the 2 please.

No easy way if it's solid, might need to soak it for a while then try heating it, due to it's location the only real option is to run a drill down the centre of the piston as a last resort, it'll either come out or be scrap.

The condition of the crank can only be assessed properly by stripping it completely.

The other place to look at is the fuel tank / filler cap is the vent blocked causing low flow after some use. If you remove the cap when the symptoms are there if it’s a blockage in the vent you should hear an audible gush of air. Is it possible for you to use an auxiliary fuel tank for a short trip to test?

Nice one So you couldn't put a PV oil pump cover on a 4LO casing? Yes, either cover will fit onto both cases, the PV is a straightforward fit, the 4L0 cover will fit the PV case after grinding the nipple off (that sits over the clutch centre)

Don’t think they’ve ever been vapoured, too much black around the sides, looks like a DIY strip or it’s just suffered from neglect, it’ll look completely fresh with a vapour blast.

A bit of diesel squirted around the area, but it’ll take time, don’t be hasty or it’ll be an expensive repair.

In a bag with Duck Oil or the like sprayed in, even IF you clean them first don't put them in un-oiled after removing everything with brake cleaner it'll rust.

Negative terminal on battery to a stud/bolt by the coils. Does that mean there should be two negative connections to the negative terminal on the battery? No, there is just one terminal connection but the loom splices in multiple earths as it runs around the bike.

Either that or strip the original white and blue wires back to the stator windings and solder a new set in and crimp your new plug on, don't forget that the white wires are generic so can be placed in any order in the plug.

Thanks for your assistance and knowledge its much appreciated 👍 so it's quite a rare model rz250rr 😎 Now should I paint it white n red like ones in the pic or leave it black ? Depends on what you want to do eventually, I would be interested to know what fairing it had originally.

I had a quick look earlier today, I do have a very good pair of switch gear controls, not been able to look too much as I've had to go out to work - I'll only be selling them as a pair though, PM me if you're still interested.

Thanks for the input guys... I will continue my quest to find a replacement. It's an LC2 switch gear, I probably have a spare, I know that I have a pair - not sure about an individual, won't be able to check until Friday.
