Hi all I'm thinking of replacing my kickstart shaft seal on my 31k lc2 as it weeps a little bit, is there anyway of knowing if the casing is for 31k or a 4LO, or is there no difference? Reason I ask is the part numbers for the seals are different , I think the seal that's in is the wrong one as it seems too deep as if it needs to go further into the casing, the the kickstart shaft starts to taper as the Splines start and the seal is just on the edge of the taper, also I assume I can just screw a screw into the seal and pull it out?
Cheers

Shape of the oil pump cover gasket profile is the biggest easy eyeball.

Inside is different too, raised dimple in the middle of the clutch part on the 4L0 and the cases are stamped differently 31K are stamped as 29L. 4L0 is .........

Nice one So you couldn't put a PV oil pump cover on a 4LO casing?

Nice one So you couldn't put a PV oil pump cover on a 4LO casing? Yes, either cover will fit onto both cases, the PV is a straightforward fit, the 4L0 cover will fit the PV case after grinding the nipple off (that sits over the clutch centre)

I've just bought a 4l0 with a missing oil pump cover, bought a new one without realising the bike had 31k right hand crankcase on so I got the wrong cover. 31k 4l0
