this sounds interesting, there's probably quite a few folk on here, (me) who have an old LC set of cases with a bit of a desire to have a bigger motor but who don't want to find a valve bottom end..

i made one up with the right connectors and wire etc, now it took a while as i had to go to england for work most of the year 2021 when i was doing it, the time spent ordering the materials, refamiliarising myself with what had been and needed to be done, buying the right crimper tools ect.. makes £250 or whatever look cheap and probably cost a similar amount.. It all works and looks good but I next time i'll hit the buy it now button...

is this the same as the usual flat spot at those revs which can be reduced with some fettling, but how are you riding it, buzzing through the gears or winding it on in top gear like a big four stroke..? where are you located, there may be someone close by who can offer a 2nd opinion

Fabby.. i took my 350 out of storage after 20 odd years, gave it a few checks, some premix in the carbs, kick kick kick and to quote Meatloaf, " holy cow, i think i'm gonna make it... " cue revvy noises like your video.. Undertones, " teenage dreams, so hard to beat.."
have fun, matey

I guess LC prices will always remain stable relatively speaking and in my case will be worth more than I paid for mine when it was new at under £1000 in 1982. Keep it and enjoy it, and it seems that in London at least it's free in the expanding ULEZ zone. here's a thought, maybe we should all meet up in London town and have a razz about the streets, sounds more fun than the usual bike rally in some field.. marti

Maybe it's to aid the tyre fitter as the chain is on the other side from usual (rhs rather than lhs)

I had to sling a rope round a roof beam, attach that to the baffle with a wee hook round the rod on the baffle and give the exhaust an all mighty tug or two before the baffle came free.. usually they come out a bit easier but if it works..

Google streetview is a handy tool to check out if the location matches with the address if you have one for the seller, although if you were to look at anything i put on marketplace you would see the street where my workshop is, nowhere near my house...

When you say no spark, have you kicked the engine over in a darkened garage, or anywhere else that you can cut out all light? the reason is that while there may be no spark visible in daylight there may be a tiny wee glimmer of one when doing the same in a pitch black location and while i ain't an electronics expert that would suggest to me that everything is working but the capacitors inside the cdi are not holding a charge, they are about 40 years old so.. anyway, i have had similar issues so substitution with a known good one sorted it out..

yes, good point about not getting too jiggy with the tiedowns, i popped a fork seal on the way to an MOT a couple of years ago... which was good really as the fork bushings were starting to wear out and the chrome was worn on the stanchions so the forks got a strip down and freshened up although it was a bit of a pest at the time... Brooks Suspension sorted the chrome and provided the parts
