Before i l start off. I wish i had a specialist like Arrow in Holland. So i got curious about the oilpump. I have one spair so i took the non return valves apart. Not spliting the pump but just the nrv’s. Anyway my restomod on a 31k is a pita. Fouling plugs and jetting a maze. Colour now ok. But still fouling. After replacing coils and plug caps cleaning al electrical joints i found out that its getting to much oil. So i did a 12hour siphoning test on the oil lines with old photo canisters. And right A few milli liters or so on both sides. First took the nrv’s of my spairpump apart and after that my old one too. On this picture you cant see the spring at all. It is hidding loaded gummed up in the housing. And now unloaded i had to scrape some gum away. Here a picture from the spring out. Well i cleaned it all. I noticed that the seats for the ballvalves differ. Old one 31k is blueish and 1ww valveseat is black. Looking forward to my next test ride. 😎

Dave mentioned the unexplanable differences between same type of carbs. I found out lately that 0,5mm extra on floath height compensates sometimes a jetsize.

I used the rattlecan once a year on the exhausts. That cost me 10€ a year. And some time and energy to get them in the spray booth. Now i can afford stainless. And they look lovely. And make more power. Living the dream🤗😜

May be amonium nitrate is the better formula. This is very explosive🙈

Reed valve gaskets are often the culprit, even when new. And as Rigga says, make sure the balance pipe clips are fitted correctly. Even if the pipe is a tight fit in the inlet rubbers, a leak can occur if the clip is not fitted. Happened to me with brand new Yam inlet rubbers. Brush some soapy water over the suspect areas - should show up the leak. Dusty Soapy water if you pump it up with an airpump. This leaktest will need some work. This is the best way to find leaks Dusty👍 I noticed crackes on my inlet rubbers. For shure it needs new ones. But temperarly i filled the crackes with a plastic spray and now i know this was the airleak. No leaktest but i found the leak.

If you put the lower leg in a heavy vice you can pull a lot harder.

I have valve needle with a rubber tip. This gives less wear on the floath valve. Original it was full metal one without the rubber tip. Sorry i dont have part numbers anymore.

Curious why the 1ww were restricted. I know the 100ps in the 80s. But why resticting the 31k?

There is something with transmission oil. When i started my 31k after 21 years the oil became sticky. The clutch didnt came lose. After some heatcycles it was gone.

Syncing is much easer and better when you take out of the idle screws. Then adjust the main throttle cable adjuster. Turn so much out that in bottom postion you see a part of slide. Say half “sunset” in the hole of the idle screw. Than adjust the other side the same. A bright led torch will help.

This an update after a few fouled plugs at 290 280 and 270 mains. I didnt exacty know, what is a gutted airboxx? Mine is empty, no snorkel. The lid which is under the standard airfilter element contains say 10 holes 25mm. May be that explains the smaller main jets. Next time trying 260. Thats after i raised the float level from 22.0 to 20.5. That helped the pilotjet a lot. 32,5 now with airscrew at 1.25 open at the moment. And wow what a weather for playing with the carbies😎

This question comes up after i saw pilot jets with bleed holes for vm carbs. At least in the spare part pictures of topham.

In the fuel delivery there are a lot of critical items. Fuel cap vacuum fuel tap vacuum membrane filter carbies issues. Does the exhaust smell like fuel? Then its an ignition problem

Dont worry its longer. It gives a lot of sag. This evening i rode both sides of the centrestand to the ground. I had to adjust the preload. I hope its enough to withstand the Zandvoort track. 🤪
