I have to admit that the whole upside down forks is purely a vanity thing. the hybrid is being built to satisfy a need to make something that looks good but needs to be usable, no good having something that looks good but is a pig to ride. It seems the RGV boys are swapping out their forks for ZX6R forks which apparently slot straight into the RGV yoke, they say they can be resprung easily. They also say that the RGV forks only have value due to us RD boys wanting to buy them .

Sorry to be still on about this, but I'm getting confused now.. I spend ages reading through the RGV forum and it seems the RGV forks are only 720mm, as per my last questions it seems LC2 forks are 740 so by fitting the RGV forks i'm losing about 42mm. Now one thing the RGV boys all say is their forks are crap, soggy and generally pretty bad. So on that basis why is nobody using ZXR400 forks? they that two models one is 720 long and the other 740 long and with full adjustment. So is there another reason for using the RGV forks or is my info on length wrong? I can get a set of RGV forks now but just would like to feel I'm buying the right thing. My LC2 should be en-route tomorrow so I'm looking forward to making a start on the project.

Good point, looking at the web it seems the actual difference between the 90/90 18 against the 120/60 17 is 44mm so a drop of 22mm, so I'm dropping front 42mm. I thinks thats going to be too much. Back to the drawing board.

Thanks very much for that, I wonder if 720 is too short, i'm losing with 17" inch wheel too so a loss of 45mm maybe too much and make it handle like a pig.

Ah! I don't have the bike in my possession yet, so not sure, its the 350 I bought from Fozzy, a blue 31k. I didnt realise they were different. 30mm makes a big difference, the ones I am looking it are 720 to centre of spindle.

Hi all, can somebody let me know the length of the YPVS forks? I have found a possible upgrade but need to know std length. Thanks.

Thanks, I'll look at that, I too prefer the stand wheelbase, i think they look a bit strange with a long swinging arm, but I'd like the look of a different arm, it is a 31k I'm doing, well once I get bits sorted....

Hi Andy, any idea how difficult the ZXR yokes would be to fit? of if any other yokes will be usable? Thanks.

Thanks Jessy, I'd seen that link to the forks info, it is helpful, shame more people aren't adding info. I had thought about Kawasaki forks, looking at bikes that ran USD forks of a similar size, the ZXR400 came to mind, lots of running gear available but maybe too long.

Thanks guys, I can see the sense in all the comments. The RGV yokes sound interesting, I guess if I got some USD forks with same diameters I could use those. My R6 ones will be kept for something. I do wonder if the 500LC is that much different, if not some of stuff noted on their website may be useful for this project. the bike is a 31K that I'll be collecting early in the new year. Anybody used R6 swinging Arms?
Could anybody tell me what length YPVS forks are? I a lot of info on fork lengths taken from the 500 project idea so I can see what options are possible. I do not want to make the thing too OTT, something usable is more important, I can modify more like many as i go.
Thanks. Phil

So hopefully I'll be starting my own Hybrid project soon, having looked through the pages of bikes on here I notice that the RGV seems to be a very popular choice for both ends, is there any reason for that? it seems certainly the RGV forks aren't very common, nor are swinging arms. Having looked at doing mods on a RD500 I notice the popular choices for that bike is R1 USD forks ands a lot of R6 for swing arms and forks. Maybe I'm being dumb but I wonder why, I didn't think there was so much difference is fork lengths on 350 and 500 so that shoulder be a reason. Does it mean R6 or R1 parts done work on the 350? I already have yokes from an R6 and a swinging arm that I believe is R6, I'll post some pictures of this later and hopefully somebody can confirm that is it R6. All comments welcome... hopefully they won't be proving just how stupid i am

It certainly looks interesting, but in the same way it looks just wrong, each to their own of course. He says he has left it ready so a LC motor can go back in, I'd be inclined to do that if it were me then sell it!

Wow, this is really interesting, I have a few issues with some of the panels on my 500, I feel happier with the option to repair not replace.

Dymags would be awesome, but Id rather keep some of that cost for other bits... When I say basket case, I have loosely assembled it and from what I can tell its all there, even got new Bridgestone rubber on it, I think I'll keep all the standard bits, I guess it'll always be worth more as a std RD.

Hi all, Ive just joined, so thought I'd drop by and say Hi...
Ive got a 500lc basket case which should keep me busy on those cold winter nights, its in the garage with my T140D Bonnie and a Honda XL185 that has done 5k miles since new, the same as my first bike, I also recently got rid of a GT750 Suzuki (still regretting that).
Im hoping i'll be able to get some help and info on the LC.
