I use paraffin. Back in't day, after a paraffin clean, chain used to go in chain wax tin and have a good boil on the camping stove (non o ring) Thanks for bringing back that memory Steve, I did my KH250 chain in a castrol wax tin, in the old dears kitchen, back in the day, she didn't so much mind me using her cooker, it was the smell she went ape s**t about!!. Happy days π

Hi Mate, I have had some good reports about fast line super bikes up in Preston, they know LC's well and are very helpful. Not sure on batching, you would need to discuss with them.

Thanks Shaun, Did you go with standard size?. I read ages ago about a bloke who put a wider rear on, but if screwed up the handling?

Did the same trick, but used an old pair of spark plugs whilst the engine was inverted to save damaging the coolant stub pipe on the bench!.

Do any of you guys have thoughts on the best tyre choice/fitment for the 4L0 350?, I appreciate a lot of it will be personal preference, but I'm just looking for a decent all rounder really. The bike is standard & will probably just be used for short local blasts, so I'm not too bothered about longevity. Also any info on sizing would be appreciated. Obviously I don't want to jeopardise the already sketchy handling! (Compared to modern stuff). I'm guessing I'll have to stick to inner tubes rather than tubeless too?.
As ever chaps all input very much appreciated.

That's a blast from the past trubrit!, as a yoof, I had a job after school washing cars and serving petrol, our 2 stroke dispenser was a yellow 'Duckhams' one, I remember a chap used to call in regularly in a 60's Saab 2 stroke, and I used to have to put the shots of Duckhams in first before filling it with 2 star!! Lol.
Happy days!, thanks for the post.

Hi Mellow,
Very much enjoyed this shed 'porn' thread lol!.
In response to your conundrum about fixing sockets, I had the same problem in my concrete sectional garage for the consumer unit etc.
Lidget concrete do some brackets, (they call them lining clips), basically a flat plate with a hole at one end and a slotted, elongated hole at the other, these mount on the bolts that hold your panels together, and you just screw through the outer hole into a plywood board or similair, to hold your sockets, consumer unit, air fittings etc. They are about 60mm x 30mm, 1.5mm thick plates, you could make yourself tbh.
Lidgets number is : 01709 881015
Sorry if it's stating the obvious, or you've already had the same reply from another member.
Enjoy your new domain and heres to many hours happy tinkering!.
ATB Iain.

Thanks Mike, Ad says it has been skimmed by .60 thou!, which lends weight to the theory that you can run more compression with 'Singh swirls' !.

Anybody seen this before? Out of interest Mike, what is the history of the head?, do you know anything of it's past life, i.e. been in a race/track bike engine etc?.

Or the most symmetrical detonation marks ever witnessed!!! Lol. Would love to know if the swirl pattern had any effect on combustion?.
Presumably the head would have been skimmed to compensate for the compression/squish lost as a result of removing material to create the 'swirl' pattern?.
Very interesting whatever the reason.

Cheers Steve,
Cracking idea mate, I wasn't sure about filling with water, but if you get it swilled and the moisture out quick enough it's not going to have chance to rust I guess?.
I used to do the premix trick on my bike if I laid it up for winter, and as you say it gives a nice thin film of oil with no detriment to your engine once filled.
Thanks for the info, I wonder if duck oil would suffice as I have 5 litres of the stuff!.
