If I've ever read an advert where someone is trying to big-up the rarity and value of something, that has got to be it....!! And is it just me, or does the petrol tank look not very shiny silver inside ?. Last year I sent a tank off to be painted that was absolutely brand new inside (beautifully shiny silver) and when it was blasted prior to painting, they didn't cap the top and they took all the shine off the inside finish in the process. It came back with just a dull silver finish inside. As soon as I started using the tank, it immediately started to get surface rust on the inside. To say I was p*ssed off was an understatement !!!. I ended up having to source another tank and the paintwork done again If I was interested in that set, I would certainly ask for better pictures of inside the tank before parting with big £££

Hi, I had very similar symptoms with my Mk1 RD125LC a couple of years ago and it was the CDi unit. Would run fine for a while, then start missing and spluttering and wouldn't rev, then it would run fine for days. Swapped the CDi out and it's never missed a beat since .

I've learnt the hard way and through experience that the Plasticote BBQ paint either needs to be cured withing the 8 hours or left for several weeks before running up to temperature on the bike. If you don't either cure it straight away, or leave it a few weeks, it will bubble and blister just like any other non heat resistant paint . I usually paint my exhaust when I'm not going to be using the bike for a few weeks and the paint stays perfect The heat gun is a good idea though, as longs as it doesn't catch fire and burn the Garage down.....

Do you not know what year it is ?.
It's not a MK1 looking at the parts in the pictures (wheels, clocks, engine casings etc.)
Mk2 or 3 by the looks if it.

If the flats ends of the valves are worn you can get them repaired. I recently had my built up with alloy weld, then milled back to be perfect again. Think it was a bit of a pain for the guy that did it for me, so not sure he's want to do it again but it's an option if you can find someone prepared to do it for you. My valve ends were so worn that there was about 30 degrees of play at the centre joint, which means the valves don't stay in sync

Best place for them in the Winter, I've got a bedroom in our bungalow reserved for bikes. I keep 5 of the little ones in there all year around

I wouldn't be too fussed about a 10W carb specifically. Some people claim it's the only carb that will give full power but that's not the case.
Any 12A, 10W or 11Y carb that's jetted correctly (and working as it should) will give the same performance.
I have a couple of 10W carbs here but I run an 11Y carb on mine as it runs best with that.

The bike does look lovely, a credit to you I've had a couple of bikes (still have both of them) where the Frame numbers were obscured by powder coating. Problem is..... on bikes first used on or after 1st August 1980, it's an MOT failure to have a VIN number not permanently displayed, incomplete or not legible What I did with mine was, masked the area where I was pretty sure the numbers would be, carefully rubbed the area down with wet & dry (dry), then when I had the numbers exposed, I dusted the area over with Simoniz Tough Black (gloss). It gives pretty much the same finish as powder coating but is thin enough for the numbers to show through. You wouldn't know it had been done, unless using a microscope

I had this with one of my F2's. Turned out to be bad connection in a terminal block (think it was under the tank if I remember correctly).
Have you got a Haynes manual of lies ?.
It's pretty easy to test the resistance of the charging coils, then the generator output before and after the reg/rec.
Good luck.

Well like you've said before, the 12A pipe will restrict the bike to 12hp, sounds like the 11Y pipe will restrict it to 17hp ?, so the best to do is find a 10W pipe which should give you 21hp, as there's no other restrictions on the bike

I've got a matching numbers 10W bike which I believe was imported from Germany at some point in its life.
It has an 11Y carb fitted (which I've found to be better than a 12A or 10W carb) but thought it would've had a 10W exhaust as standard, or was there an 11Y exhaust also ?.

Chemical metal and Slow cure "original" Alraldite are both petrol resistant, so depending where the crack is you could repair it but as Mr LC_Bott says, I think a new tap would be the safer/better option. On Suzuki X7's the petrol tap outlets are a push fit and always become loose over time. I just put a this smear of slow cure Araldite on them and refit and they've never come loose again or leaked

The 12A pipe has a short tube welded in at the top of the downpipe help in by two 1cm welds that are directly opposite each other.
I removed one from a 12A pipe a couple of years ago (I have pictures somewhere doing it) but the bike still went cr*p compared to any aftermarket pipe (Micron or Allspeed)
My advice would be to get yours decoked if it's an unrestricted pipe, or lookout for another that's not blocked up.

Renntec have modified the grills now, so they have larger rectangular holes as opposed to the small round holes they had before.
I'm running my YPVS engine in at the moment with a new style Renntec rad grill fitted and it runs around 1/4 on the gauge most of the time, occasionally going upto around 1/3 if I get in some traffic or slow riding.
Probably not your problem but a bit of info that might help you or someone else ?.
Good luck sorting it.

I've had several Fazer 1000's and always liked them. I think the engines feel a bit lazy compared to more modern fuel injected bikes, but they go pretty well. This one has the full Ivan's upgrade (think it was called the "Full Monty" ??), the rear end raised a bit and the front end dropped through the yokes as much as the flat handlebars would allow. Made it turn a lot better and still comfy to ride . I sold it in the end cos it just seemed so slow compared to my GSXR1000 but they are different animals for different purposes for sure

Yep, great day and brilliant turn out and great variety of bikes. Saw everything dynoed from a 50cc moped to drag bikes running nitrous! Don't suppose anyone has a vid of my Tuono on the rollers? I pressed the wrong button on my camera and it was on pause instead of record Oh that's a bummer...... what did it make ?.

With an Allspeed exhaust they stop stone-wall at 9/9.5k but with a Micron they should rev to 10.5k ish no probs. Any higher than that and you'll need a new crank fairly often..... I'm running a 11Y carb (pretty much the same as a 10W) with a 170 main, Micron exhaust and Pipercross filter element in a standard airbox and it runs well.

Where abouts are you Looey? I am in RH12 area but right on the Sussex/Surrey border. I'm In old Coulsdon just inside the M25, we'll probably be joining the M25 at J6 (Godstone) The petrol station Nick suggested looks a perfect place for those meeting south of the Dartford Crossing. Maybe we should decide a time to depart from there ?. That gives everyone the opportunity to get there what time they like but knowing what time everyone is leaving from there ?. I don't want to get up too early, how about 10:15 departure from the Garage ?.
