Was a good show. Did think the bike would be quicker over the 1/4 mile though, rest of the results pretty predictable really but did not expect the car to be as much as 30 seconds a lap quicker, amazing pieces of engineering F1 cars. I remember back when I first had my 350 YPVS brand new in 1984 having a dice with Renault 5 Turbo, had him on acceleration out of roundabouts but the bugger out braked and cornered me on the roundabouts. Quick little roller skates them 5 Turbo's.

Man that it absolutely superb no wonder you did not show the bodywork until it was on the bike. This is going to win awards by the van load if you take it to any shows, which you will have to do just so everyone can dribble all over it.

Kingspan, Quinn and Celotex are PIR foam foil backed insulation is generally the best. There is a product called Tri-Iso or YBS Superquilt which is a multi foil layer product and is supposedly the equivalent of 200mm rockwool insulation. Trouble is it is a case of you get what you pay for with insulation. You need to make sure you follow the manufacturers details to obtain the best thermal value it can achieve and ensure you do not get any condensation issues.

What is Guy Martin upto this year do not think he is doing the TT but this would be a nice temptation surely. Shame Michael and William are already sorted they would go well on the Suter I'm sure.

ABBA stands are superb have been using one for a few years now. Just buy different adaptors, have used mine on RD500, VTR SP1, CBr600rr, Thundercat. Dead simple to use and can get extension bars which with an adaptor fix to main unit and then with strap supplied around swingarm can lift front wheel off ground, wheel and forks out no problem. Can happily sit on bike too whilst on the stand. You do though need a bit of room to roll the bike back and forth when lifting onto the stand as with no wheels like on some paddock stands cannot push bike backwards and forwards.

Hi Phil Be mindful that buying from the USA you will probably have to add import duty and VAT to the cost which soon mounts up and maybe worth checking out price from a UK supplier.

Unfortunately I agree with gibba they would need some serious checking before using. Whether or not this then devalues them greatly I do not know or to what amount they would be devalued. Struggle to think some one would pay 15K at all. It's crazy what people think stuff is worth especially if you watch ebay. If you click on completed listings loads of these mega priced bikes are being listed over and over again so obviously not selling for the inflated figures they are asking. But then Bazille has sold his for a touch under 9k. A bloke at work keeps trying to persuade me sell him my RD500 and has offered 10k but still not tempted to sell even though personally I think it is never worth 10k myself certainly would not pay 10k for one. Bngt - reckons modified with more modern running gear, pipes and some tuning worth more - I would question that, mine is modified in line with this except the tuning and would be surprised if this has increased the value. But have kept all the original stuff and could put bike 100% original in a weekend and then sell all the bits separately and make more money. What sort of mileage a year do you think these bikes need to do to reduce the risk of seals drying out and failing and bearings rusting due to condensation forming on the crank area due to at least 1 port being open and would it be good enough to put a bung in the tail pipe end. Rich. Rich.

Freddie did ride as a member of the Marlboro Yamaha 500 GP team at the start of the 1989 season . Unfortunately, a shadow of his former self . Overweight , unfit , unable to cope with the Yamaha chassis style , he gave up ( or was respectfully requested to leave ) half way through the season . He was a fantastic talent. We saw him at the Classic TT a couple of years ago at the Jurby Festival very approachable and happy to chat to the fans. Still a legend and doubt anyone else will win 2 classes in the same season.

Hi Matt, when you say NK closed hopefully you do not mean closed for business, stop trading. Have used Nigel before and he is very good and was hoping to be using his services again shortly. regards Rich.

I had same problem with ring end gap back in late 80's when I had to rebore by 31k after seizing. Rebore was fine, first rebore size pistons and rings but end gap too big so changed for next size up and gaped them myself - worked fine. Rich.

I have put a pair of RZV mirrors on my RD500 and yes they do look better but they are useless when it comes to seeing what is behind you. It took ages to find mine but they did turn up on ebay.co.uk eventually. You will just have to be patient. As mentioned above yahoo auctions japan might be the place to find some also try Fastline Motorcycles over here they seem to have a few RZV through their hands.

We had the grandkids over Friday night Jacob who is 2years and bit was rather quiet no sign on him, called him several times no answer. Walk into the bedroom and all my clothes that are normally in the bottom of the wardrobe are all over the bed. Call to Sally " Sal have you been sorting out my wardrobe". With that the wardrobe starts laughing, hide and seek what a good game grand dad. Saturday morning 6.45am we are in the garden inflating the new bouncy castle I stupidly left in the dining room after they went to bed, should have left it in the car. Still at least with grand kids you send them back.

Out of interest who is the insurance company. I have just re-insured with Carole Nash and had to give a valuation of what I thought the bikes are worth but the comment was they would in fact only pay current market value. Who determines current market value. For instance I have given a value of 8k for my modified RD500 but I bet if I took it to my local bike shop it would not be worth bugger all. My 95 Urban Tiger I reckoned for insurance purposes with the way they are now going up in price I valued at 3.5K - excellent condition (would like to say mint) bog stock and less than 9k on the clock but again only worth this to the right buyer who would actually come and see it. The crux is I have not got an independent valuation done neither but my premium went up as I had upped the value from last year. So as you have said who would you actually go to for a true value. Rich.

We passed this parked on the side of the road outside a house last week when on holiday in Woolacombe, caught it out of the corner of my eye as we drove past. Kicked myself for not stopping to have a look as did my lad following in his car, was hoping to see it when we went back past a couple of hours later as we both thought it was a TZ 750 on the road. Thank god it was not there when we went back passed, would have been really disappointed but as said above each to their own.

400 mains - that was big. My 31k same spec with Stan the Man st3 was running with 320 mains and that I thought was on the safe side. 35mm carbs are bg.

It is/was well cool. My other half's brother was racing and were in the pits, weather was okay at Cookstown but Tandragee the week after was windy as hell, bitterly cold and raining on the Saturday. The Isle of Man TT course is scary but these tracks whilst nowhere near as long a lap wise or race wise are tighter, narrower and with bikes setting off in groups - well scary. Good atmosphere and friendly. Well worth a visit. Was good to see Guy Martin get a win, let's hope he can do it at the TT although it would be good to see Michael stick 2 fingers up at BMW after they dropped him for this year, big brother William will be a tough one to beat too. Brilliant bring it on.
