that looks quite good! is it aluminium? Yes it is The rear end needs cut back as it's too long for a start May cut it right down so it's just the section behind the shock Steve

Being back at work has it's advantages 😉 Running around for work I managed to drop the wheels off to get the tyres fitted (Should pick them up tomorrow) along with dropping the disc spacers and caliper brackets off for anodising yesterday Got them back lunchtime today 😁 Steve

It’s to match his shiny tyres they’ll be nicely rubber polished as well, it’s a lovely looking shiny polished garage Queen you’ll get to see it at a show soon enough as his new neighbour will put more miles on it pushing it to and fro 👍 (the cases will be empty but don’t say owt).

Cheeky coont 😁 And stop giving my empty engine case secret away 🤣 It was my secret p1ss take to make people wonder how I made the engine so slim 😆 Need to hire a barrel removal plate to try and get the top end off 😖 Steve

And it's off 😀 I was a bit concerned what as I was going to find in there as DK had used the famous phrase "run on spray" but I never even thought of starting it as even with the plugs out it was stiff to turn over with the kickstart so I assumed at least one cylinder would be weather seized Pleasantly surprised 😅 Honest I haven't cleaned the head, that's how it came off. All 3 bores look good too Steve

Should add you can push the pistons up and down by hand so crank is free too
Sounds like the starter motor is constantly engaged so hopefully that explains the stiffness fnarr

Nice one! Now decision time. Fingers crossed for a tidy motor inside so a clean up and sympathetic rebuild. Or a full on mortgage rebuild with all the bells and whistles. Looking forward to seeing what lurks below. John

Looking forward to seeing what lurks below. John Still want to machine the fukc out of it 🤣 Crank refresh for sure. Think they were strong enough for ships lol Will need split anyway as no lab seals here, oil seals between the cylinders so needs split to replace Its whether I bore it anyway or just re ring it. I'll see how it measures. Even Mitaka pistons and a bore is near £400 🙁 Popping out now for the deox c down the stud holes trick 😉 Steve

With a bit of luck there won't be any nasty surprises 🤞
How far to go is the biggest decision
Need to make a better effort to speak to BDK. Emailed them but they never got back but think that's typical them
I'll get the block off first then give them a call.
Don't know if I can resist a Nova close ratio kit as they say the 4th to 5th step is massive
Top ends are relatively simple to change your mind on
Bottom end is another matter so it ain't ever coming back to bits lol

Are TR parts unobtainium. I haven't looked that hard but availability and price rule them out Not saying it's the best place but if you look on ebay there is nothing The stuff you can do gets scary price wise. You could throw £10k at the motor easily Steve

My mate up here restored a std GT750 recons it cost well over 12k, any way the thing was running fine when he got it but he decided to rip it apart anyway dont know what the engine bill came to but i do know SEP charged him £850 for a crank rebuild and that was well over a year ago.

Yes the cranks are expensive to rebuild. BDK quote £120 labour just to split and reassemble it I'm expecting the barrel/head work to be £1500 - £2000 Steve
