Hopefully no one minds this on an RD forum. This will be a long term build but as I'm sorting little bits and bobs in the background I though I'd start a thread. Wanted a "Big" capacity stroker and love the sound of a triple so thought a 750 kettle motor was a good base for a project Had been watching and bidding for a while but eventually won this near complete one on eBay from DK

Next was wheels Dymags would be nice but at £2500 and no mech Speedo drive option I decided spoked wheels would be good GT750 front hub and a GS750 rear (so I can get a rear disc) were sent to Hagon for 17 inch anodised rims and stainless spokes

Next was a rear brake set up GS uses a 275mm rear disc but wanted smaller. Bought a Bandit carrier and an SV650 rear caliper as they are under slung then got a kindly donated rear disc turned down to 240mm to suit Mocked up for checking, need to get spacers not to get it in the swing arm Steve

Looking forward to your progress Steve. Always wanted to build something like this myself. It's always good to see something different too. Proper old skool stroker Dusty

I hope your paddock stand bobbins don’t interfere with spindle or is that just my luck😩

Another hot day so hung the frame up in the car port and applied a tin of Simoniz tough satin black on it to stop it flash rusting any more It spent last winter in a vac bag but will be getting dry built this winter so some protection required Steve

You’ve been a busy boy today mr. Are you getting it powder or painted long term? Always think it’s a shame to paint these frames when the welds are so gorgeous, those xr69 frames that are now about look stunning just lacquered.

I was gonna say Nickel coating. Looked at an aircooled Rd in an old copy of MCM magazine, with a nickelled frame, and it looks lovely Dusty

Like the sound of this build Steve. I'm sure CBM on here has an amazing GT750.
Great work so far

Not done much
Picked up the rear wheel spindle and got spacers to make the temp shocks fit. Mounts are 25mm wide, shocks are 20mm so 5mm spacers
Also been on to Nigel at NK
Got some nice pegs/levers and a Nissin rear master with a built in reservoir

another vote for nickel here as well. Lovely frame! Been looking into it and 1- feck it's expensive and 2- it's not as resistant as chrome so oxidises 🙁 I was originally thinking gloss black but to be honest the satin actually looks good For some reason it shows the welds off better That's a long way off anyway Steve

Buddy you know with these things it’s never ever worth cutting corners or scraping by you’ll always regret it that’s why they swallow so much cash and time.
