I told him I had a tank that just had a dink in it and asked how much to blast, fill the dent and apply a base coat

He said £70 to blast and prime it then £40 an hour to sort the dent

At that point I did wonder how the tank I was picking up which wasn't much worse got from that point to £360 plus vat finished 🙄

He only charged £80 to fix the petrol damaged decals on my lc2 mind that only took a week not nearly five months

He's basically charged you 40 hours labour plus £200 materials

Holy sh** did they gold leaf it as primer?? I used to use powa paints in Straven a real nice guy used to do all the bike shop repairs in Glasgow moved onto car repairs cause of guys coming in a week after dropping stuff off hastleing him , anyway he had my tzr 250 blue kit for a year and felt bad though I was in no hurry and only charged me 350 and that was fabricating new mirror wings for the top fairing and repairing a cracked bellypan still dont know to this day how he lined all the yellow striping up as he didn't have the bike !! Top bloke. John.

+1 for Ian Anderson at Powa Paints.
Charged £350 for doing my full LC2 bodywork, tank, tailpiece, sidepanels, bellypan, fairing and front muddy, which included quite a few repairs. Pics are in my 31k from boxes thread.
Did it in 4 weeks on the button. He used to do loads of race bikes so handy with different colours and graphics.
He has now moved to a unit in East Kilbride after his landlord in Strathaven was di*king him around.
Top guy and well recommended.

Yeah I had the tank off and petrol leaked out the cap and blistered the decal so I had the painter do it again but he took the huff when I asked him to fit them properly so he gave me the tank back repainted but with creases on the decal so I took it to bike paints and he put the decals on and lacquered it

Always been very dear. Remember getting a quote for a tail piece for a Fireblade about 12 years ago,was £120 back then

I remember in the 90s they did my cbr1000fm fairing they only painted half of the top fairing so the decal at the indicator on the left was genuine and the right side was done by paint then laquered in very shoddy wasn't pleased but was desperate to get the bike back on the road as I was doing distance courier work at the time and was having to run a kmx125
