Esso synegie supreme 97 and 99* are Ethanol free unless your in the west country. They state they have no plans to start adding it to these fuels. I won't use anything else in my 400C exactly this!!! it's all i use BP Ultimate AND V POWER both contain ethanol much to most peoples beliefs I believe that you are correct, going by the label on their pumps, they all state E5 or E10 now. I switched to using normal unleaded in my LC ages ago, no problems at all but I get through a tank full within a month at the latest. Letting this fuel sit/go off is when problems arise I feel?!

Has anyone actually phoned their insurance companies to find out if they agree with the exemption, rather than rely on random people’s opinions on the intranet. I know I won’t be risking it so will ask them up front. Jon The other year I spoke to the chairman of one of the vintage automobile clubs, he certainly knew of some members who had had such problems in the past so it's not just 'random opinions' as such, however he did say that he thought that everyone/organisation would know by now that MOT exemption is totally legal and fine by now. Good suggestion on calling the company you are thinking of putting business their way first, record or getting something in writing first.

Seen that mentioned a few times on various classic sites. Early days yet but mine is getting one anyway for now. Lots claim if you have no MOT you have no insurance. Having had , ahem, personal experience of this (MOT run out), and an accident, it certainly wasn`t true in my case. Maybe I was unusually lucky. I know that some insurance companies will use any excuse not to pay out, motorcycle solicitors White Dalton website is a good source of information on that, and his appearance on some videos on the 44 teeth youtube channel. If the law states that a vehicle of a certain age is exempt from needing an MOT then that's that, why on earth aren't all insurance companies, police and breakdown companies accepting this?......I can't see any judge/court ruling in their favour on this. Maybe that's what needs to happen, they need to be hit with big payouts to prove that their stance is wrong on this, only then will they be singing from the same hymn sheet. The whole MOT certificate and it's proof of a vehicle actually being road worthy is a complete joke/fantasy really, that's what bugs me the most about this, ANY aged vehicle could develop a fault after the day of being inspected.

Henry Cole seems to get away with it ! I have noticed that too but he's is a 'trade plate' I believe so maybe there are exemptions on placement for those?? Often car dealers just bung them on the rear window for example.

I did. In memory of all who have died in the past year. Put it outside in a wind proof holder. I was amazed that no one else had. Alex I'd say that many people are just fed up with the fraud of the whole thing to be honest, yes folk have passed away, many were taken by other conditions yet had 'covid' put on the certificate. Tomorrow is a big day in parliament, I pray that enough MP's have the balls to vote against this 6 month extension to these lockdowns/restrictions. Why on earth does Boris want to extend it anyhow, he said that coming out of this lockdown would be irreversible!

I have had some issues with Yambits, someone earlier asked why they are in business... for me, I am located in the US so have limited options. There are basically 3 places apart form Yamaha dealers, Yambits, MBD and Norbo. Here's my take, MBD seemed to grow quickly, I checked a few months ago and they had a great user friendly website with a decent selection of parts. Yambits have a great website with good e-commerce and quick shipping. Norbo has nice pictures but ordering, especially from overseas is a nightmare, write a list, type the list in an email pay for parts and add 10% for paypal before getting shipping costs and then having to do a second payment, print the paperwork etc. etc. So, I have bought from Norbo for my previous restoration, met the guy and know he is a genuine enthusiast who sells good parts. But.... I fell into the Yambits "easy to buy" trap and bought a bunch of stuff from them.. their bars didn't fit, some of the repro parts quality is crap etc. etc. I email them and get a quick polite reply basically telling me I am S.O.L. I replaced the parts from Norbo without issue.. I would have tried MBD for some parts as their site was pretty good but not sure why it all disappeared? I am sure if he wanted to, Norbo could significantly increase his business simply by having a better more user friendly website and ordering process, it would probably make his work life a hell of a lot easier too! (I know, people have been saying this for years!) Oh well, back to building the bike!! 100% agree that Norbo's website should be more 'interactive' shall we say. I have no idea how much this would cost or how more complex that would be to do but the majority of websites/businesses run like that, why can't his? It does seem to be a bit daft, it's like he's half way there already, he's got a website, why not take the next step??

don’t suppose you recall where you saw the dimension? I’m obviously looking at the wrong sources cos I can’t find anything that references the ball bearing at all. The ball is simply a 5/16" ball bearing, available from many different outlets. OEB I'm wondering if the OEM one were hardened or not? Something to keep in mind if looking to source from another outlet.

This is the thing , Yambits to a newcomer will look the all singing dancing place to get parts from This is why I think that there should be a 'sticky' thread on here that lists all the dodgy parts that folk have bought/had experience with from them already. How's any newcomer going to know otherwise?

There are two types of people that buy RD500s, those that had one or always wanted one and ride it for what it is - and those who are buying into the hype and get one, spend loads on it, then they're disappointed because it doesn't live up to the hype and they sell them on to try and recoup their money. I think it's the second lot driving prices up, but I wonder if it will last. I was beaten to one a few years ago in a dealers, the price was steep but I eventually plucked up the courage and drove down there, only to find a bloke had beaten me by a day and bought it. I knew him and stayed in touch, but six months later he asked me if I wanted to buy it as after the hype had died down it didn't live up to his expectations. He wanted more than he paid and I'd ridden one in the meantime and was underwhelmed, so I declined. I'd say that also applies to an RD350LC to be honest, far too many folk are in it for the money/investment angle rather than the riding/enjoyment aspect.

A few years ago someone sold a bike and forgot to cancel insurance.... New owner had a big crash and was uninsured..... They came after the innocent bloke who sold it..... Apparently it was very costly if I remember I had heard of that or a case very similar, bottom line is that it's important to cancel the insurance the moment you sell a vehicle I guess.

I can't think of any bike of 200cc with shaft drive, well not from the 80's when I started riding. I wonder why that didn't become popular? Chain maintenance is a pain in the butt after all.

I'd avoid wet roundabouts in the middle of winter for starters! Lol, I doubt that many on here would actually ride a bike during winter period.

Hi I have small oil leak from around the oil pump, are these easy diy fix with a new seal/ repair kit or better to have someone carry out a complete strip and rebuild. Any recommendations who carry’s out pump repairs. cheers If it is just a gasket/seal that's gone or you just wanna tackle it yourself, there is a great thread on here posted by a late member some years ago. I'll find/add it later.

I think I will hang a board on my bike which says unroadworthy ride at own risk. Well I'm now thinking about the times when you are in the middle of working on a vehicle, you leave it to go and collect parts etc, if it's stolen before you get to fit those brake pads, I suppose it's still your fault.

I dunno about you guys but owning an LC back in the day were a pivotal moment, first bike that had some power and what with being the 'in' thing to have at the time, memories of all my mates/gatherings spring to mind.
Sure it would be nice to own a GPZ900 etc too but I only have so much space and money, yes that bike is so much better in many ways but would I ride it much when a modern bike would trump that in everyway. There's got to be some sort of 'connection' other than it being just a vehicle is what I'm saying.

If the casing still had its structural integratory there would be no issue. That's always been a concern of mine to be honest, that and if the bike did happen to fall/take a knock on that clear cover, are you more likely to be left stranded due to losing all the oil,....they do look cool but for those reasons I've passed.

Years ago there use to be an M&P store near me, bought a fair few things from them, all seemed good and never had any problems if I recall correctly,...I wonder if they are owned by someone else now? I have heard that their cables are rubbish before, sad that the whole outfit as gone down hill.

Yes passed MOT no problem You have been lucky then, the rules have recently changed, MOT testers have been told to fail the vehicle if it didn't have an LED fitted from new basically.

I don't suppose that you have two of those tiny in line fuel filters fitted to this bike? Try checking the fuel flow/amount that flows out of each hose if you do. These had been fitted to my bike by a previous owner, had similar problems, got rid of them, the fuel filter in the tank is more than adequate I feel.

I never understand this. It's pretty simple with the LC: Fit tubes. End of. Whats an LC worth these days? What will it cost to fix and how hard is it to find those parts...? and then ask the same about yourself. What you got away with isnt a prediction on the future. Back in the day, other mates/motorcylists I knew wanted to get away from bikes with wire spoke wheels that had to run tubes, seeing a cast/solid wheel on the LC automatically gave the impression that tubeless tyres were fitted,....that's part of the problem I think.

Back in the eighties one of the LC's I bought didn't actually have an inner tube in the rear wheel, I run this bike for months without a problem/clue, only after getting a puncture did I discover this. Yamaha and Haynes manual states tubes so I'd stick with using them to be honest. Lc wheels are not tubeless rims. In other words there isn’t a lip into which the tyre seats. If it lets go, it’ll deflate instantaneously. You gents can make the appropriate call of whether to fit tubes or not! Yes, that's what I've heard too, it's the lack of a lip on the rims as to why inner tubes should be used, only learnt about this like 30+ years later. It's amazing that I never experienced that tyre popping off all those years ago, that could have been fatal.

Really? I heard you could run without tubes but the rims don't really have deep enough ridges for the tyre beads on tubeless tyres. So there is a risk of the tyre coming away from the wheel rim. I hate fitting tyres with tubes but I wouldn't risk not using one. I wouldn`t recommend it, but not aware of any problems while racing. Think its just the "covid tax" and once people have better things to do (like work!) prices will drop abit ?? That's assuming that they still have a job/business to go back to. I'm amazed that so many folk haven't seen the bloody obvious here, they've just jumped on the 'covid/keep lockdowns' going wagon and sat on their arse at home and took the furlough money. Maybe just maybe, when they haven't got a job to go back to, they might wake up.

Btw just for the record I am not anti Vax, I just would like the truth. Which brings me to why are we still talking lockdown, and passports. Here's another big why for me,.....why are army intelligence even looking into all this?? I think he's dead right though, for those of you who think that having this one injection, then the 2nd dose and think that it will be over, you are kidding yourself,....bloody Bill Gates is already on about a 3rd jab, what more proof do you want!

Reminded me of the one where a woman sold her Husbands £25k Lotus for 50p on ebay after he'd been playing away. That were Tim Shaw from Car SOS, he openly talks about that, I think he said it were Jodie Marsh who he got caught out with.
