After 16 years of ownership I’ve been thinking of selling my Lc. Barely used it last year, partially due to covid but also because I’ve been using my GPz900 instead. I then bought a 600 fazer in October to use through winter and it’s great fun too. The Lc is under a cover behind my bike ramp and I’d not looked at it in months. A couple of nights ago an old photo popped up on Facebook. Not the best quality but I immediately knew who it was. This was my hero at 15 years old while I excitedly waited to turn 16 so I could get a moped. Trev Bradley could wheelie that Lc for miles and at that age was the coolest thing I ever saw. It was a eureka moment and straightaway I came to my senses. Tonight, I dragged the cover off the Lc and sat staring at it in the freezing cold garage for what felt like hours. Twisted the throttle, pulled the clutch in and out like it was a new model at the bike show. Sometimes you need a jolt and that crappy old photo did just that. Bloody love my Lc and won’t be selling.......

I only went out a may be 5 or 6 times last year may be 2 or 3 the year before and before that not been out for about 5 or 6 years just because you havent used it a lot right now with such a nice ride you'd be better of sticking it in the living room on display.

I think if you don use things for a while, the bond starts to wean a little and then the doubt comes in, my LC really helped me in lockdown 1, the weather was great and it was a real boost to get out on the bikes, I think I ended up doing more miles than previous years on it in the end.
That initial pleasure of having the money in the bank would seen disappear when your saw one at a meet or riding past , good move mate..

Every time in the past 30 odd years I’ve sold one of my lc’s I’ve regretted it and I always have bought another sooner or later. I could afford to do that as not many of us kept them and there wasn’t the desire generally for them now with what I have invested in mine I couldn’t afford to do what I’ve done again. There were plenty of times I nearly gave up and thankfully I didn’t. You’ve done the right thing I reckon as it wouldn’t be long before you’d want another and with the diminishing amounts available and prices continuing to increase could you get back what you’ve got in 12 months time? Good decision. 👍

There’s nothing like a few old photos to facilitate the awakening of dormant or lost emotions....bikes quickly become part of your soul. If a bike ever meant anything to you, selling is a very big mistake. Occasionally needs must, that’s a terrible situation.

That's a lovely Elsie buddy and you'd be properly gutted if you saw someone else wheelieing it down the street even if there was some cash in your hand...
Can you post a pic up of the calliper adapters please?

A great story, I bought an LC at the end of the Autumn and yet to ride it properly. Does it mean I’ve got all this to come ??

I must admit I keep thinking of selling my 250LC and my LC2 to put towards another classic car. I have a hybrid build on the go and some other two strokes so they would not be missed. The plus side of the bikes is they take up less room than cars.

Pix of a Lovely Pristine condition Lc. Beautifully 'restored' however is a double edged sword. Any wear becomes painful and as Entropy is inexorable, all illusions of meeces and men aside : Time is the true Enemy. Restored Objects too often become 'Too Precious' to actually use, certainly for the manufactured purposes. I've owned and restored a series of 50's Jaguars. Sadly they all eventually became precious objects generating Worry.. rather than use. Care in what one wishes for.

Hiya, After reading your article, it prompted me to look for this picture (which I hope can be viewed). It was taken in 1981 and in my "hooligan youth" I could wheelie through several gears. I do hope this picture is viewable. Ironically, my LC at the time had the same gold colour wheels as your hero Trev. Keep well, Terry Terry 1980 by Terry Finn, on Flickr

I dunno about you guys but owning an LC back in the day were a pivotal moment, first bike that had some power and what with being the 'in' thing to have at the time, memories of all my mates/gatherings spring to mind.
Sure it would be nice to own a GPZ900 etc too but I only have so much space and money, yes that bike is so much better in many ways but would I ride it much when a modern bike would trump that in everyway. There's got to be some sort of 'connection' other than it being just a vehicle is what I'm saying.
