I believe the german rd80 ones are the same as the uk 125 mk2? don't quote me though. If so the first tzr 125 forks are the same, the 2RH & 2RK models Dont really know but the German rd80 has top clamps for straight bars like the mk1 125 and mk1 clocks I have a german frame and a box of bits sitting in my shed, just need a motor ,forks and side panels to get me motivated.

I think its stunning ,but I reckon it would be harder to sell than a standard bike because with a standard bike you know pretty much what it's worth before you buy, with bikes like this you are taking a bit of a gamble ,much as I like my old bikes I always think with my head and try to keep my money safe before I buy saying that I lost a pile of cash on the last one I sold, doh!

I run a building company and it used to do my head in doing quotes for time wasters ,now days I will only go out if I they sound genuine when they first call, I have learnt to suss them out pretty well ,but they never taught me those skills when I was an apprentice bricky all those years ago, every day is a school day.

I cringe now but 3 of us 17/18 year olds used to go out to one of the outlying pubs on our 100/125cc bikes and have a few drinks then do the gp ride home at closing. Had to stop once to throw up before continuing Steve Thats pretty much how my RD50 bit the dust ,still got the scars.

Also depends how important matching numbers are to you, might be better to cash in the magic matching numbers value and go out and buy something ready to get out there and ride and enjoy, you are lucky enough to be able to sell one and buy one.

I have just been through a similar conundrum myself, I had a unfinished bike that even though I had put a lot of time and cash into, I just couldn't seem to find the time to finish it ,and it was always in the back of my mind that it needed finishing it was starting to grate on me, anyhow a really nice LC just came along for sale completely re-build ,needed nothing doing so I bought it, put the unfinished one on eBay at a stupid low price ,it sold first day ,I took a big loss but now I have a better bike and get on with my other projects without the other one hanging over me.Life is to short mate.

It is easier to get spares now than it was back in the day, no more microfiche in the dealers hoping they would be able to get it from Yamaha in a week or 2 but the Chinese stuff on eBay is a minefield of crap ,Norbo is the first place to go

If you look at milage on most of the RDs that are for sale for restoration or have been restored, and look at clocks that come up for sale off bikes that have been broken ,lots of bikes seem to have died between 20-25k

Unless i,m thick as f@@k which i probably am ,I can't work out how plugging a car into the national grid every night is going greener few years ago my kids came home from school with low energy lightbulbs because they had been taught that power stations create massive pollution. I took a Toyota Hybrid Rav 4 out on test drive recently when my diesel went in for a service ,basically its a 2 ltr petrol with self charging battery back up, you can switch it in to 3 modes one of which is to turn off the hybrid and drive it in just petrol, which is obviously the way most of us would drive it 200hp goes nicely so its hardly progress bit like the petrol cars we all had in the 90,s ,but because it is capable of being driven in eco mode it ticks all the emission boxes. Its all a load of bollox at the moment.
