Hi guys, just joined and looking to buy my next bike. Reading through some of the previous posts looks like I’m joining a growing list of people wanting a rd350lc! I bought a brand new one in 1981 and would like another!

Hi Welcome to the forum The Lc's are as popular as ever. Once up to 10 posts you can access the classifieds on the forum. Bikes are often sold on here. Enjoy, and good luck with your search. Dusty

Thank you for the welcome Dusty, are spares easy to come by? Just wondering whether to go for one already sorted or better to rebuild your own.

Spares - lots of genuine Yamaha still available, especially if you are doing an engine rebuild ! Norbo runs this forum and has an online shop linked to it - loads of goodies, standard and trick. Great supply of quality pattern parts too. It's never been easier to build an Lc - repro tanks and panels available new, lots of different pipes to choose from, big bore kits, repro seats etc etc. The only issue is your bank manager/wife finding out how much you spend !! Buying an incomplete project that needs loads of work often costs more than buying a sorted bike in the first place, in my experience. Very rare to find a "cheap" Lc nowadays. Dusty

It is easier to get spares now than it was back in the day, no more microfiche in the dealers hoping they would be able to get it from Yamaha in a week or 2 but the Chinese stuff on eBay is a minefield of crap ,Norbo is the first place to go

German imports are often a bit cheaper than Uk bikes but essentially the same. Depends how original you want it. Uk matching numbers bikes fetch the most money, but the hybrid scene has more or less caught up on values. The sky is the limit !! Dusty

10 posts and you can see the wanted bit. Like Dusty says loads of bikes out there (amazingly) but none are cheap anymore. My previous 350LC was German and I got her for a measly £2200. Not nowadays lol! All parts are available but some are cheap for a reason. Gen Yam is always the way to go but some parts are superseded and others can be shockingly expensive. Norbo's stuff is excellent and well priced. Fowlers sells gen Yam but NOT cheap. Yambits...well some parts are great others are soddin' awful and eBay is a minefield.
Welcome to the club and I hope you find the bike you want!
Alex

Welcome to the forum Andrew. As the previous comments have said, lots of good stuff going on here and always bikes and parts coming up for sale in the classifieds. Get yourself 10 posts and you are in. Read through loads of the previous discussion threads as well and you will soon pick up where to look as well as many of the pitfalls out there to avoid. Enjoy the hunt

Welcome to the forum, yours is a familiar tale of a returning rd owner, plenty on here did exactly the same, so your in very good company ...... and like has been said, its easy (relatively) to get back into ownership, albeit not cheaply. Good luck in your search, I'm sure you will find a bike to your liking.

Wayne who? Where's this picture taken? Is it a 250 or 350? Good luck with the search. I placed an ad in the wanted section explaining what I was looking for and budget etc. Some very good folk on here who will note your ad and let you know if anything is available.

It was taken at Elvington near York in 1978, It is a TZ250B. Thanks for the tip, I will put something in the wanted section. I must say I have had a warm welcome, hopefully something will turn up. Cheers

It worked for me Andrew. If you are based near York, and not that you are just because of the photo, but Dave muttsnuts on here did have a hybrid for sale. He is the forums carb guru and is based in Malton on Derwent. Also Mike Kopite the transport guy had a 250 in mars bar colours, may have been German requiring some work.
