Researching for a colleague from work. Has a DT125LC with working ypvs but his CDI has been becoming more temperamental. Another work colleague had the same problem. He bought an "Improved" aftermarket CDI from the states and it worked great. Bike started first kick. So the other colleague bought the same one. It didn't work. The engine started first kick but it would only run backwards. He eventually got hold of the company who do not guarantee their units by the way, and eventually they sent another unit which was a combined coil/cdi which they guaranteed would fix the issue. It didn't. Still the same. After many calls to america and countless emails they offered him a credit note, which is pointless and will no longer answer his calls or mails. So he has decided to bite the bullet and by a Carmo electrics CDI which apparently are tested and work. The problem he has found with these is they say the ypvs will not work but it will have an improved power curve. So the question is to the guys who are technically minded and know their stuff about the ignitech and and zeel units does anyone know if one of the units will fit a DT and work the ypvs system?? Any info gratefully received.

I'm sure Zeel will have a unit
Whether it has a base map on it and what it is I don't know, you would have to ask borut.
I know he had a pv controller years ago when I asked
An ignitech can surely be made to work as it only uses the pick up, not the hi/lo windings but they come blank so you would have to know the ignition map of a dt
My biggest worry given that it doesn't work with the standard unit or 2 replacements is that it ain't the cdi
I'd be checking the stator, the pick up and the rotor.
To get an engine to run backward the timing has to be waaayy out.
A few years ago I spent months scratching my head trying to get a mk3 to run right
3 cdi's and 2 stators later it was running well but if left to idle for more than 10 seconds it died
Each cdi made it run different
Got so frustrated I sold it on

Checking the coil and leads is easy. May be you can swop it over with the other bike.

Changed stator and it would run but cut out randomly Fitted another 34x cdi and it ran but had no bottom end but went mental up top Fitted a 35e cdi and it was great low down but not as much up top They seem worse than 350 lc2's for ignition probs Totally spoiled it for me. Had wanted one since I was 17 🙁 Steve

The fixed program Zeel norbo does is easy enough to fit if you can use a crimp tool or a soldering iron Only extra wire you need to connect is a switched 12v supply which can be tapped into the brown wire at the pv controller Steve

You can fit the programmable unit with the default 31K mapping loaded, then you have the option to reprogram later if you wanted to.
