Before I sent the everything to be powdercoated I sent the frame to a welder I know to weld a lug on for the steering locks. Tried the stem and yokes on roughly with no bearings and all looked well. When it was all back and bearings fitted it became apparent that one side had too much lock (missed the lug completely) and the other side didn't have enough. Stripped the forks and yokes back out yesterday, ground down the lug and reshaped it with chemical metal (another good ole faithful). This is where we are now. Couple of coats of smoothrite and will be good as new with perfectly symmetrical steering locks. New Pistons and seals fitted to the rear caliper today, pads coming on Thursday. Got some spacers made for the Rearsets but they were made from steel and weigh a s@&t load so they are going to make more and machine cutouts/holes in them to lighten them up for me. Once I'm sure they'll fit properly I'll get the rearsets powdercoated and polished then I can get braided hoses made up, on and front and rear brakes bled out. So we are heading towards waiting for the engine and the paint to get started. Couple of other bit's like what headlight to go for etc but we are cracking on now at a fair rate. Happy days

Yes classic scam. I was selling a car on auto trader and had messages from: A naval officer out at sea in submarine A marine biologist Someone on an oil rig Surely most of these would have the most sophisticated communication devices possible?? Same kinda messages. Can't get to a phone will send money through PayPal and will get someone to collect, even asking questions about the condition of the bodywork and spare tyre etc to make it sound more genuine. You get a fake email saying you have received money plus over payment to cover shipping charges. You send the extra money to the "shipping agent" Which is actually your own money and bang you've been done. PayPal will always use your name when they contact you. Never enter your password or anything unless you are actually logging in to your PayPal account that you know is safe.

Thanks mate. I half thought of that but won't know till the engines back in. I'll probably get a banshee kickstart which is much shorter, hopefully that will do the job??!!?? It all bolts on without spacers but would rip the master cylinder banjo bolt out at the first slight bump. It has to be spaced out that far to clear. It's the only option as far as we can see if I want to use these Rearsets. I did think about going back to the original hangers but then would need new levers etc which is another load of c**king about. We shall see what happens eh? I also noticed recently that in my younger wisdom I must have moved the underseat tray forward so the rear light now sits under the cowl rather than sticking out. A nice touch if I say so myself (from around 25? Years ago) lol

Clear rear lens with led stop and tail bulb Rearsets and rear master cylinder on. This was the job I thought was gonna be a nightmare but, yet again my work colleague (clever c@&t lol) got em on. Obviously the washers will be replaced with a properly made spacer, but good news is..... They're on!!!! And front calipers on proper now !!!!!! Yeeeehaaaah

Thanks gentlemen. Tell you what I keep going on about smoothrite but it really is the dogs danglies. It goes on nice and dries to a perfectly smooth finish. No primer needed either. I even painted my cut down plastic rear mudguard and under seat tray with it. It comes in satin black, gloss black, silver, gold, blue, red, yellow and green. Yeah I'm looking forward to getting it out of the confined space to see how it looks and get some better pics. I'll stick the tank back on with the panels on to get a better idea but I've sent my seat away to a guy to do a guilliari conversion so I'm waiting for that to come back. Progress again! hallelujah!

Forks in, wheel on, calipers half on. Should be all on properly tomorrow, then I can get it moving around, get the wiring loom on with the battery tray etc. and get it outside so I can see how it's looking properly. It's hard to see in the little room at work. I need to sit on it to check the lock stops as one side misses completely and the other side perhaps doesn't quite have enough. Will get some more pics on as it comes together.

Got the xl rad from norbo plus some other bits and peices (thanks norbo) Needs some spacers to make it for so me old mate had the idea of these Exhaust rubbers for a Nisan. Had to cut the down a tad but did the job nicely Incidentally they also work nicely for the clock rubbers that bolt to the yokes.

Got the forks back today from bring reassembled after anodising and I must say I'm quite happy with them. Couple of the mudguard bolt holes are a bit ovaled so I whacked them on just to see how it looks and make sure I can nut and bolt it on rather than relying on the threads. Clearance is good so off them come tomorrow to paint the bottoms of the forks. I can then stick them back in and get the calipers on and bled etc. I'll be able to push it outside for som better pics aswell

Go for led lights/bulbs. Much cheaper to run, safer (cooler) and, if you get the right ones, brighter!

Little bit of a gap waiting for bits and pieces but forks are anodised and getting rebuilt as I write this. Should be up on its wheels early next week then can get brakes on and bled etc. and wheel it out for some better pics. New wiring loom from Yambits is here now. Ordered a new rear light from the bay of e but it arrived and is cheap shite so am refurbishing the original. Ordering a few more bits from norbo this week so should make a bit more rapid progress. Threw bodywork on just to keep my mojo going.

So, I posted up a picture of a front brake disc on a bike a pizza delivery guy brought in for an mot a couple of weeks ago. A bmw car came in today for an mot and it got me thinking about the things I've seen in the past. I thought I'd share any classics with you for your thoughts/comments. Remember these mofos are driving around on the same roads we are bluehazing up!!! Enjoy!!! Starting with the aforementioned brake disc Then the car today nearside rear tyre And the offside rear tyre inner sidewall

I didn't actually know that but could have guessed. In my personal opinion if it tastes good I'll eat it regardless of how it's been killed etc. It pi$$es me off when you can't get bacon in a burger in a lot of places round here though. Lol

Absolutely true, you as the operator are responsible for the condition and safety of the vehicle you are driving but they just don't care. It's all about getting the money in the till. I did tell him straight and coated him right off though.

Actually they are sometimes early (no brakes) and sometimes never even get there (no brakes) lol Yeah quite amazing really, never seen anything like it. Still, luckily we use dominos who normally use cars so it's all good. If you wanna use a budget pizza place you should expect budget delivery lol
