Well 20 minutes on the old mop and I'm happy with the result, now the task of masking begins, then onto the front.

Well I've scoured the bay and it's looking like 80 odd quid for genuine? Really? I just found an OEM 31k for 40quid plus post... 381452087172 Ive had LC ones from him, drop him an email perhaps? But, Norbo is cheaper and people seem to like them... your call. Well I searched everywhere, must be putting wrong thing in search? Not sure about £52 from abroad, scares me a bit.

Well I've scoured the bay and it's looking like 80 odd quid for genuine? Reports on the £30 Norbo 1's are good, mines frayed at the throttle tube, think I'll whip it off and see if the top piece can be swapped leaving the bottom 3 genuine?

Use genuine throttle cable, check ebay should get one for around £38, Will have a look mate, seen some at around £80 maybe looking in wrong place, Norbo does a £30 option I was thinking of?

Bet that's the 1 that is knackered, does it fit on the end of the spacing tube? Think that can be straitened but the front one is knackered. No, AFAIK that one is still available. One of the wheel bearings has a 20mm I/D & there is a top hat style spacer that reduces the I/D to 15mm. OEB Got that 1 then I think, only those 2 got mashed. Phew.

Busy night, stripped all bearings from wheels and hubs, that was easy..... Make sure you keep the reducing spacer/collar from one of the rear wheel bearings OEB Why?

Busy night, stripped all bearings from wheels and hubs, that was easy..... Ran bike for half an hour, Rev counter all good and temp gauge, runs like a Swiss clock. Emptied all fluids again and refilled with new. Starting to write a little list of needs, clutch springs don't look standard and you need a strong hand to work lever, all other parts good so think some different springs in will sort that. Wheel bearings, throttle cable, retaining tabs for wheels, carb to barrel rubbers as these cracked. Knackered 2 spacers in wheels getting bearings out (Or Bri did!) sorry Bri, will order those too. Front brake seals and paint for those, paint for wheels then paint for bike if her indoors will let me rob the joint account!!

Looking like condensation, stripped clutch and cleaned all up, back together, fresh oil and water, put the second hand stator on and it's missing again. Tomorrow night borrow the one that worked again to see if that solves it as it ran perfect before. Hopefully it will so that can run up to temp and flush everything out. Nowt wrong with stator, schoolboy error, dodgy plug!

Wheels back, and couldn't be happier, look the dogs danglies, not much polishing needed either and all casting marks intact.

restrictor fitted where downpipe meets first cone Well that is in a different place to this then, and this is a genuine 4lo so I'll see if I can get it sorted by a friend at race fit uk.

Only German 4L2 model 250cc bikes had restricted exhausts. OEB as its a german 250 russpuss is restoring.i left that bit out of the answer russ maybe it hasn't been removed yet check the embossed number by the hangar bracket It's a 350, will nip in garage now to check numbers.

Where do I find numbers on the exhausts to check what they are please? If they are 250 and the restricter in the left has gone, is there 1 in the right to remove too and will they work the same as 350 when done?

Left hand silencer has been cut at the front and welded back up but it's twisted and doesn't sit right on the bike, luckily it's been cut on the original welds so hoping it can be recut and welded properly, question is guys, why would it have been cut? Is there a restricter in there? Why only the left one?

Stripped front callipers as they were binding, started stripping paint ready for a refresh whilst they're in bits, new seals required.

So I'll whip the clutch plates out to check and clean it all up and run it till it blows then?

I've also posted this in my resto but for anyone who hasn't seen, the oil from my gearbox is a red brown cream colour, having only ever done aircooled's before I'm hoping its just the seal where the water pump goes? Do I whip the barrels off in case it's the head gasket? The engine runs sweet but not had it up to temp, just wanted to strip to check on the clutch. And the tub had all the foreign bodies in prior, only fluid came out.

Right chaps, dropped the oil and it's a lovely creamy reddy brown, thoughts on what to replace or should I be whipping the heads off now? Ignore any other foreign bodies in there, it was only the fluid that came out.

Ran out of fluid, more fluid in, piston out. A quick wipe revealed this blue paint underneath, should this circle be blue? Oh and ignore the carpet, the beauty of a golden retriever!

Brake was slightly stuck, so used the airline method which moved it ever so slightly then went back to bleeding. Got it this far then lever went slack again, any tips for getting it out now so that I can clean it up?
