If they were hot in the day they’ll have been paid out on now. Get them in a milling machine to put the lines back on, hey presto no numbers and build an engine. Ethics aside, it’s not really that simple restamping cases or machining them back with ridges. Unless enough material can be removed the original numbers can be seen via a number of methods including x-ray. The stamping causes the metal surrounding and going into the case to become compressed and will show witness of the old number. Jon When was the last time you saw someone pulled and their engine x-rayed? I know of at least 30+ engines out there that have been milled and also have had new numbers put on. I wouldn’t add new numbers personally but there’s cases out there with no numbers being used and it’s a shame to waste those cases is what I’m getting at.

Ohh its a cabriolet! Back in the late 90s I worked in Farnborough and we had a secretary who was blond and very typically so, she could only have been more blond if she was from Essex. She had a white XR3i Cab which perfectly fit her personality. Sadly it was rusty and always breaking down, if only she'd had it 10 years earlier or it was as nice condition as yours, which looks like a late one as its on an H; Im thinking 1990 must have been near the end of production? Last mk4 in special paint only 1200 made apparently, I’m going standard with it, maybe if I get another I’ll go balls out with it 😬

I’m in Nottingham and have bought a XR3i for my next project, anyone got a trailer I could borrow for the day to collect it? I don’t mind a bit of travel if you can help.

Its Canary Yellow and its Kens bike Is Ken Keith Slater? We went the same school he was older than me by a year he had a yellow X5 when I was at school. I see him at a school reunion about 10yrs ago he said didn't remember me 🤣 funny how some people can not remember things. Yet others remember things people places ect long time ago, if it's his bike it was at Stafford winter show in the Suzuki tent last year. Nice bike 😜 Tiz ken indeed ken, seen him today he’s sold it and bought a Lammy

Did you send them pics of the riddler and shocker? If you did... you might of offended an NOS nuts ex train spotter... and they've hiked the price up Shop around Russ.. you never know. For me, it is cheaper to insure a modern Hornet than an old aircooled 250.... Yeah they had pics for the mods, they suggested the agreed prices, I could have them insured for less to bring the policy down. Trying to get other quotes at the minute is stupid as none answering phones and then trying to tell them about all the modifications is silly.

Things coming loose sounds familiar. I've also had things coming loose that I didn't expect on the big bore project. I have started using a weak stud lock on the rear seats and a few other body fixtures because of this. Yeah dropped some loctite on the indicators in the bars and the rear sets, have a look around tomorrow see what’s what, had it with the riddler, things happen when you make 1 offs.

Well what can I say, couple of niggles sorted like the gear lever knob falling off and the right front indicator coming loose! Steady tootle to MFN, felt the love had loads of chats then gave it a bit of a tickle coming home, yes she is nippy, not hit the power properly yet but I think it’s going to be silly when I put a few miles on it.

They weighed the bike during the MOT? What was the reason for that Russ or is that normal now? For the brake efficiency I believe

MOT showed 75k front and 75k rear. Bike was 3” off floor when weighed either end. Does this make it 150k wet as the tank was full?
