2 stroke oil draining in from pump ? Yep, caused by knackered oil pump seal, worn driveshaft, or both allowing two stroke oil from the pump into the gearbox.

I BE THERE AT 8.30 ISH !!! Bob, few of us leaving Hastings Elva garage at 7.45 and riding up A21 to Pembury layby and stop for food and watch the bikes for a while. Leave there about 9.20, ride down through Goudhurst and meet the other lot at the Sissinghurst garage.

Used to do most of the Ace Yamaha days and 2 stroke days. Some of us would meet up on Chelsea Bridge first and ride in en masse. Might try and sort something for this, would be nice to get out and about now my LC's back on the road

Banshee carbs should run ok on a 31K but I don't think they have provision for oil inlets. The 1UA carbs should be plug and play.

Gen 1 Fazer 600 (98-03) shock fits too. You need to change the lower fitting from fork to eye (from an old YPVS shock) but it works well and also raises the arse end by an inch or two.

There aren't any lighting coils on the LCs as the lights are powered from the main electrical system which is charged by the generator. I guess what you remove would be the charging coils. Never done it myself though.

I am 99.99% sure it fits. As far as I can remember the YPVS clutch assembly is all interchangeable with the 4L0 APART from the pressure plate (due to the adjuster)

Engine bolts straight in, no mods required to mounts. You will need to change the gearbox sprocket spacer to a 4L0 one if you are retaining the original LC wheels to maintain chain alignment. Other than that it's a fairly easy swap. Servo mounts under the tank. No right or wrong way of doing it really, the positioning is determined by the length of the powervalve cables. There is a thread on here somewhere with various pics if you do a search.

250/350LC CDI unit is pretty reliable and robust so shouldn't be too hard to find a good used one on ebay.

Well, I've just bought 5 litres of Exol Optima Racing fully synth for £30 off ebay as I've read good things about it. It meets all the specs so should be ok. Decent stuff is getting silly now, even Halford's own is nearly £12 a litre.

Ride it and get the oil good and hot. 9 times out of 10 it's condensation. My Yamagamma used to do it too.

Get used to filling up your bike in multiples of 5 litres then premix is easy. 40:1 is 125ml of oil to every 5 litres of petrol. Conveniently, those Tropicana bottles you get in McDonalds hold 250ml so I use them for oil and put a half way mark on it. If you are going on a ride, fill up before you go and carry 250ml of oil under the seat. 10 litres will get you about 70-80 miles so plenty to get you home. That's how I do it anyway.

Have you tried it on prime? Vacuum fuel tap could be a bit lazy.

Try some slightly longer bolts first, they may just bite on the remaining thread but careful they don't bottom out.

Probably because Harley forks bend about like trees due to the weight of their agricultural design (sorry for using the "H" word on this forum) Is that why H****y riders are known as Benders?

regarding the smoke.i would decoke the exhausts often forgotten about.an easy fix Oil is much better now and burns a lot more cleanly so decoking exhausts is a dying requirement. Use decent oil and thrash the bike regularly and you shouldn't really need to do it.

Blue smoke on a two stroke - surely not! I'd be more concerned if it wasn't smoking at all so sounds perfectly normal to me. Standard pipes can kick out loads of smoke if the bike hasn't been ridden hard but it should clear after a good thrash. Clutch rattle is pretty common too, usually it's play in the basket. Again, nothing to really worry about but you can get the basket rebuilt with new rubbers if it bothers you.

I snapped the head off one and I managed to unscrew the broken bit out with a small jewellers screwdriver. Don't whatever you do run it with the broken bit still in there as it will work loose and could jam something up.

I'm running an RGV stat in my hybrid - YPVS engine in a 4L0 with standard 4L0 rad. I have a digital gauge and it runs about 55 deg, rising to 60's if I ride it harder or get stuck in traffic. The RGV stat is the same size as the YPVS but is deeper so hits the inside of the head. Therefore you have to space the housing upwards. You can make a spacer from and old thermostat housing.
