Single green wire is temperature sender. In the headlamp bowl there should be a black wire with a multi female bullet connector on it. The indicators and parking light all earth into this connector.

Not quite! The single unused black wire with a male bullet connector is unused on the UK bikes with self cancelling indicators. It connects to the flasher relay on bikes for other markets that have manual indicators (eg. Germany)
The single red/white wire under the seat is a connection from the pulser coil in the stator to the CDI unit. It was a common thing back in the day to disconnect it when the bike was parked up to prevent it starting if it got nicked.

I reckon you could get the castle seals out from between the valves if you can get the joiner off. It will be fiddly but should be doable. They are a cup style seal and are designed so they seal tighter as the exhaust pressure pushes against them, similar to how a master cylinder seal works. They won't work properly if they are fitted the wrong way round as the exhaust pressure will force oil past them.

You can lift the head and barrels together then split them off the bike, means you don't have the access problems to the powervalve joiner

Easy enough to remove the barrels in situ, all you need is a ring spanner to get at the base nuts.

Firstly make sure both bulbs are fitted the right way round. Then check the connections are clean inside the bulb holders and last check both pairs of wires check out to the connector where it plugs into the loom.

The easiest option is a TZR front end complete. That way you get the wheel, better forks and brakes all in one go. Trying to mix wheels/forks/brakes from different bikes can be a nightmare, plus the YPVS forks are quite close together so not much room for anything wider. I think it requires a stem swap or spacers but this is pretty straight forward.
The 2MA rear wheel fits straight into the YPVS swingarm with a couple of thin spacers and the chain run also lines up. You'll need to use the TZR caliper and mount and also fabricate an anchor or torque arm but again it's fairly straightforward stuff.
If you want to go wider, FZR 400 front end and an SZR 660 rear wheel (with 2MA sprocket carrier) will also go in but SZR wheels are quite hard to find.

Any brown wire is switched live on these bikes. If you want one inside the headlamp shell, piggyback off the front brakelight switch brown wire, or you can also use the rear brakelight switch brown

I am running a Koso gauge in my hybrid with an RGV stat and standard LC rad. Normal running it sits between 55 and 60. If you thrash it this creeps up to low 70's. Never seen more than high 80's even in traffic.

The trouble with fitting XS plates is you do get more area but also less pressure. You could try fitting an extra steel plate near the centre of the pack.

Went to a bike meet on Wednesday night with LC and Z1 owners club friends and talking to Steve Rigsby who remembers your exup. Ahh Steve with the mint 3XV? Last time I saw him was at Stafford last year. Send him my regards if you see him! Turns out it was still mot'd so all I did was stick some tax on it. Popped out for a spin and took a few pics.

Internal air jets are different and cannot be changed. You can try fitting 350 parts to them but in my experience it doesn't really work and you can never get the low speed running any good.

Your bike, your choice! Not a massive fan of the Marlboro scheme to be honest and the dayglo orange fades terribly over time. My favourite paint job on an RD5 is the white/red block pattern like the Jap market RZV, but at the end of the day it's up to you!

lovely bike and look well.is that a yzf 750 swinging arm fitted.i hade a yzf750 and fitted a thunder ace engine in.it went like stink.ian it did drink oil aswell. Yep, YZF750 arm and rear wheel just to be a bit different! Not too bad to fit either, pivot sleeve needed narrowing down and had to trim the battery tray and fit a shorter battery. Also ended up with 600 Bandit dogbones to get the ride height right. YZF ones were too short and EXUP ones were too long. Still uses standard shock and linkage though.

Cheers, yep this one burns oil too. Not much around town but when you sit at 80+ on a motorway it does a litre every 600 miles or so. Just about all of them do it - EXUPs, Thunderaces, YZF750s. It just seems to be a 5 valve thing, or maybe it thinks it's a two stroke! Still makes good power though, did 129.5 rwhp on Gibsons' dyno a couple of years back
