Again thanks for the commends... Super happy today!! Fired up the engine Gave it 10 kicks and it would not start then I thought to pull the choke out, and it started first kick Here is a video of it running, Cannot figure how to get a decent quality video up, this one looks crap but the sound is there One thing I notice is that it does not smoke from the exhausts?? Running 30:1 premix. Gastrol TTS. Barely run it for 2 or 3 minutes... Pump not bled yet. What do you think??

Sounds and looks very sweet mate, I believe 30:1 is what many people run them at, it wouldnt have lasted 2 or 2 minutes if it wasnt getitng enough, im not expert at premix thou, ive always run the pump, bleed it up and away you go(assuming Arrow did refurb your pump?!..)

Thanks copper, I just did not get the "smokes like a train" coming out of the exhausts. But figured out what I did wrong, bled the pump from the bleed screw and as soon as I got oil coming out steadily I stopped. I should have let it some more time to get the pipes to the cylinders full with oil. It is an Arrow rebuild pump so there should be no issues. Kostas

It has been a while since my last update but I have moved forward a bit, So had an issue withe the voltage output which proved to be the bloody multimeter, i have prepared the fairings/plastics for paint From this IMG_1906 by k.apostolopoulos, on Flickr To this IMG_2833 by k.apostolopoulos, on Flickr I had to remove the brake master cylinder to replace the sight glass as it was leaking IMG_2922 by k.apostolopoulos, on Flickr Not finished with this yet.. I also replaced the main jets to 240 as the carbs were fitted with 200s, the bike runs really sweet so I'm very happy with it. Here is who it looks now IMG_2835 by k.apostolopoulos, on Flickr IMG_2822 by k.apostolopoulos, on Flickr IMG_0064 by k.apostolopoulos, on Flickr Kostas

Thanks for the comments.. The seat bottom was damaged from the wheel eating thru it and the mudguard and it was dirty as s**t IMG_0052 by k.apostolopoulos, on Flickr Can't afford a good used one at the moment and as the cover is good enought I had this cleaned and I glued a plastic patch on. IMG_0053 by k.apostolopoulos, on Flickr Not good as new but will do for now. I also fitted the fairings on with a couple of screws to check that all align before they get to paint. A small step forward, Fitted the new master cylinder sight glass, IMG_0057 by k.apostolopoulos, on Flickr Got he glass from eBay, nice kit only issue is that the glass is thin and sits on the bottom of the bore, so it doesn't look like the real deal. Dropped the bodywork to the painter today. Cheers Kostas

Hello Bryan,
Having problems making the brakes work.. There is no air in the system and I get pressure build up but both are soft. I can pull the fwd almost all the way back. I think I have to order a set of new high press brake lines.
I'm still waiting for the painter to finish the bodywork (2 months now) but I went on a ride with it today!!
So here is what I found out 1. Impossible to find neutral with engine running at a standstill 2. Leaks from R/H exhaust gasket 3. Leaks from the neutral switch cover 4. Brakes are crap But 1. Goes thru all the gears easily while running 2. Starts first kick every time 3. Looks to have lots if power, no hesitation and the revs pick up nicely 4. Sounds and smells sweet
I think I will be 99% ready by the end of April. Summer is already here so I can't wait to hit the road!
Cheers

In the past when I had poor spongy brakes after lots of bleeding,I have put pressure on lever with a cable tie over night and in the morning perfect brakes! May work for you! Thanks for offer of gearbox parts,I will give you details of what I need to make my gearbox good. Baz

When I bought my 82 350LC 6 months ago the front brake was terrible, you could pull the lever in almost to the handlebars, bleeding it didn't do anything, biggest problem was the 33 year old original rubber brake lines, you could see them flexing when you pulled the lever, I tossed up getting a new pattern set of rubber lines, as gen Yam ones are NLA I believe, but decided to get a set of stainless Goodridge lines for it, this was a big improvement, the pads that are in it are only about a 1/4 worn and I have just got a set of the sintered race pads from Norbo that everyone seems to recommend, I will put these on in the next few weeks and see if it's any better Steve

I can see and feel the brake lines flex under pressure so I think new ones is the way to go.. Let me know what you need from the gearbox.. Kostas

hi Kostas,
glad you can see the funny side. on a serious note, I just finished a build and I am also not able to select neutral at standstill with the engine running, although all gears are fine when moving.
please let me know if you find a solution! I have been through everything and the nearest I have got is that it is clutch related, maybe the centre bush with too much play and wont disengage the clutch cleanly.
cheers again les ireland

I think it is all about getting the offset bolt adjusted correctly, not having wear at the clutch basket grooves, or even fitting back the clutch rubber washers as originally were fitted.
My clutch bush is like new.. No play at all, the basket has light grooves. Weird thing is that the shift lever if completely stuck when the engine is running. As soon as I switch off the engine I can find neutral just pulling the lever with one finger.
I can't take the engine e apart again, I just want to ride the bike for the summer and enjoy, that's a very common problem we have, I will just find neutral as I coast down and sort this out next year.
Life is too short to worry about little things like that!!
