Bummer What's your setup (carb, jetting, airbox/pod etc.)?, they very rarely have timing/ignition issues and with the right jetting you can thrash them all day. I have thrashed mine to death for several thousand miles and it's been fine

Got the AM23 130/650 Cantilever on the rear of my F2 track bike. They are not road legal and say so on the sidewall What's the reason I wonder? Something to do with the tread pattern rather than size/fitment? They are a hand made Club Racing tyre (pretty soft compound) and come with no guarantee, so not type approved and tested etc. You could run them between MOT's, lots of grip but won't last long

Did you replace the O-rings around the new needle valves? I don't think he has any probs with float heights or carbs overflowing, just float bowl gaskets weeping ?.

Shouldn't leak from the float bowl gaskets whatever the level of the fuel in the carbs.
If the level gets too high, it should overflow into the brass tubes and out of the back/bottom of the float bowls
Even then, it should leak from the gaskets.
Have you fitted new gaskets ?.

Yeah I did the air before I rode it, as they felt too soft.
I tried them with 11 psi, which was the maximum allowed according the the Haynes manual ?

Nice one thanks. I have a set of F2 forks in my track bike that are more like bouncy Pogo sticks , just look at the front brakes and they jam a cable cable tie marker into the underneath of the bottom yoke . Just trying to decide if to modify mine (possibly shorten the springs, add spacers, heavier weight oil etc.) or buy a set of supposedly sorted F1 forks ready to go in Decisions decisions..........

I know they are not the same (tops etc.) but can someone who "knows for sure" just confirm for me if YPVS F1 forks will fit straight into an YPVS F2
And are they the same overall length ?.
Cheers

I've heard bad things about these batteries in bigger bikes but I have several of these in different bikes (biggest in a 350LC) and they've been spot-on. Always keep charge for a very long time and never had any problems

Don't talk to me about DVLA and MOT history Did a number transfer a few weeks ago and they somehow lost the MOT history of the recipient vehicle (didn't transfer it and deleted the old plate off the system !) and also managed to screwed up the MOT History of the donor vehicle of the plate. It wouldn't have been so bad, but the car they lost the MOT history off, was 15 years and had only done 15,000 miles My only saving grace was that I print screened the history before the docs were sent off and have good enough docs to support the mileage They are incompetent idiots at best

If it's a Non-YPVS engine and has a non-standard pipe, it will have pretty much no power at all under 5.5/6k I'd say my Mk1 won't even pull through the mid-range in any gear other than 1st & 2nd gears. But,...... get it over 6K and it's like a motorcross bike through the gears

It's the plates or rubbers sticking together for some reason, my YPVS engine does exactly the same, mine even does it if I only leave the bike for a few hours on the same day. It was rebuilt not that long ago, it's nothing to do with the type of oil, because mine does it with EP80, 10w/30 mineral or Motul Transoil I'm not taking it apart again, I'll just live with it until it comes apart again for another reason..... What I do before I start the bike is......, have it in first gear, pull the clutch in and rock the bike a couple of time to free it off, then start it. Bloody thing

It was a while ago I did it, can't remember if I bought some Pipercross element foam or bought an element from a different bike that was bigger all round. Either way, I did cut my own down to shape

Well one step would be a 160 but that will make very little difference.
I'd say a 165 or 170 would be what I'd start at. You can always drop a size if it runs too rich ?.

What's in it at the moment ?, a standard 155 ?.
You don't normally need to change the jetting if the only change is an Allspeed.
I'm running mine with a 170 but only because I also have a Pipercross air filter element (in standard airbox) and it runs a perfect plug colour under serious abuse lol

Well a blocked pilot jet will be first thing to check for sure

Post by looey on May 14, 2017 10:14:29 GMT 1
What exactly did you blow out in the carb ?, did you actually remove the idle/pilot jet and make sure it was completely clear ?.
Sometimes you can see through them but the diameter has been reduced over time with many thin layers of dried fuel, so you need a jet cleaner tool of carefully use micro drills by hand to get them back to the correct diameter.
And you say it's a brand new 1986 bike ?, if so, surely it can't be blocked jets if it has never had fuel in the carb ?

Do you guys mean TS125 pistons ?. My current X7 is Stan Stephens tuned (some time ago) with TS125 (+1.00mm) Pistons, Split head (for individual squish) and RG250 Flatslides etc. etc. The TS125 pistons are slightly larger than the X7's (the TS runs a shorter stroke to give the same cc with larger pistons) and gives I think around 270cc in the X7. If they are setup properly (ports, squish and jetting etc.), they don't eat pistons ?, why would they ?.
