Cheers fellas. Pleased with the colour and the finish. Would have taken me forever to do them myself. The discs were from a German ebayer. Cheaper to buy 2, single 250Lc discs than a pair of 350Lc discs ?? Exactly the same items from the same firm, but 35 quid cheaper for 2x 250 discs !! This bike will basically be a fairly standard looking 250, so I hope to trick it up a bit in places.

Yeah, discs look awesome. Interested to find out how they compare performance wise with standard or the ebc ones. A wee bit time to go for that though. Good to see things happening again with this one Dusty John

Yea, having a little flurry of activity at the moment with this. I need it on it's wheels so I can move it around. Congrats on selling the house, that's one way of not paying the congestion charge 🤣
Good luck with the house search
You have my heartfelt condolences on moving. Just done it and although everything went hitch free it's a feckin nightmare
Now up to my neck in painting, wallpaper and fitting floors 😭

27 years since we last moved! Sold ours the same day it went live, but trying to find what we want is proving very difficult. I think we may be staying put for some time yet!!

Mine was a culture shock
Had been in mine 22 years, saw a house I knew of going up for sale, bought it then had to fix mine and sell it
Talk about stressful
I'm sure the right thing will come up, just don't think about your bank balance

I saw a house in a nearby town, where I grew up, and it would have been perfect, but we hadn't marketed ours at that point so weren't in the running for it. It spurred us on to list ours, but there is very little out there that ticks the boxes for us. We are not desperate to move - I love my house and have spent 27 years getting it exactly how we want it, but I think it's time for a change. We wont make the wrong move though, so if we dont find something on par with what we have, then we will stay put. The house I liked had a big double garage - really need that in my life !!

I hadn't marketed mine either, had been looking for at least 2 years. You need a home report done up here as well before you could sell. Luckily for me it was a power of attorney sale for care home fees so he was in no rush
For me it wasn't a double garage as such but yes that sort of combined size as a minimum
I wanted separate spaces. The decent sized single garage has the mill/lathe etc and my finished bikes as its warm and dry being internal with the house. Most important thing was a flat garden with vehicle access
Large storage mezzanine above garage now and I'm going to cut a door into the wall to allow access into the underfloor space for wheels, frames and stuff
Workshop will be built in the garden with a large building space, a spraying room and a dirty room for grinding/welding/blasting
Anyway I'm cluttering your build thread 😬

Bit of progress ! She is finally mobile enough to go out into daylight !! 20240309_094049 by dusty miller, on Flickr I fitted a new Yamaha side stand spring so I could get her off the wooden stand and outside for better pics; 20240309_095028 by dusty miller, on Flickr 20240309_095049 by dusty miller, on Flickr 20240309_095021 by dusty miller, on Flickr The rear wheel is the Mk 2 version ! After have the 250 wheels powdercoated I noticed the 4 cush drive rubbers had partially melted in the oven. I had to trim the misshapen rubbers to get the 4 plastic rings on so I could fit the sprocket. Yamaha replacements are NLA, and although Norbo has them on his shop page he doesn't have stock, so my original plan of replacing them went out the window. They seem ok, but I cant honestly say if they will be affected, so I started looking for a replacement wheel as I wasn't happy about using them as they are. A complete 350 rear came up on Ebay, which I won and collected from Somerset the same weekend I was staying near Bath; ft by dusty miller, on Flickr Back to Ovi for red powdercoat, then new bearings for the wheel and sprocket hub, new cush drive rubbers from Norbo, new shiny RK sprocket, and the sprocket hub had thrown a chain in a previous life and scored the black finish of the hub, so I polished that out, and it now matched the polished brake hub; 20240309_094929 by dusty miller, on Flickr Also had to drive back to Guildford tyres to get them to change the new tyre from the 250 wheel onto the 350 Been an expensive swap !! Ovi has just powdered the brake lever, torque arm and clutch perch which I picked up today. Was gonna use the hydraulic clutch set up but went with original as I had the parts. Rad is a Chinese version that was on the Fzrd originally. I cleaned up the sides and gave it a light polish, and everything seems to line up properly, so bolted on the newly powdered rad guard; 20240309_094024 by dusty miller, on Flickr

Good call on the rework, you dont want the sprocket coming out of the wheel due to cooked rubbers.

Really pleased with how the wheels turned out. I wanted a bright red as the rest of the bike will be fairly standard looking, so it will "lift" the look a bit I think. The sprocket dampers were going to be problematic to change. You have to destroy them to get them out - that wasn't such a big deal, but the fact you cant buy them new is. The first option was to buy another 250 wheel and cut the wheel away around the dampers to get them out intact. Then get the old dampers out of the red wheel without damaging it, and then find a way of getting the new (used) dampers into the red wheel, again, without damaging it. The 350 is a better looking wheel, imo, and has a better cush drive set up (removable), so although it's been an expensive exersize, I'm pleased with the result, and know the integrity of the wheel is as good as it should be.

Thank you Waiting on some parts coming back from coating at the mo, so in the meantime, I thought I would prep the front mudguard. This is the Lc2 front muddie I picked up last year; 20231016_174500 by dusty miller, on Flickr Nice coat of paint, but the wrong colour unfortunately. I decided to go back to bare plastic so I can primer it and fit it until it's time for a proper coat of paint. I went "old school" with different grades of scratchy, and soon realised this had 6 layers of paint !! Part 1 took 3 hours; 20240327_165452 by dusty miller, on Flickr Part 2 was today and took 2.5 hours !! 20240329_122734 by dusty miller, on Flickr Dont fancy doing that again !! Anyway, off to commit the perfect crime, due to the lack of fingerprints P.s Stripped the anodising off the clutch lever and polished it, and had the clutch perch powdercoated. I was going with the hydraulic clutch set up I have but decided to keep it standard after all; 20240329_182549 by dusty miller, on Flickr New left hand switch gear fitted as well

Haha re the crime. Ive been working on my house and sanded loads the past 3 weeks. My phone and laptop dont recognise my fingerprints so my technology tells me that now is the time to do that bank job and im glad to hear ive a partner!
A thought... Worth drilling the rivets and removing the brace before paint I would think?
New switchgear, always a joy to fit and also to use.

Next job was the brake calipers. A massive thanks is due to my good mate Mouse, who gifted me a complete front brake set up from an Lc2 (thanks again Mouse, soo kind He had removed these and stored them when upgrading the brakes on his hybrid. I didn,t have any calipers for this build so it has done me a massive favour. They look in great condition, with just grime and paint wear as you would expect for 40 year old brakes, so a strip down would get them nice again. I fitted the air compressor to push the piston out of each caliper, but repeated attempts just wouldn't budge them. A couple of attempts with small sockets jammed into the piston finally got them moving, and then with some gradual twisting and pulling, the pistons worked free. I was surprised at how good the pistons are - good enough to reuse in fact. The seals had a lot of muck below them, in the grooves; 20240314_205134 by dusty miller, on Flickr 20240314_205008 by dusty miller, on Flickr Various angled picks, and a dremmel with a brass wire attachment got the grooves clean. The sliding pins were in great condition too; 20240314_201946 by dusty miller, on Flickr 20240314_205402 by dusty miller, on Flickr The master cylinder needed some gentle coaxing to get the lever moving the piston, but we got there in the end; 20240315_090145 by dusty miller, on Flickr I had planned on getting the calipers Cerakoted, but Jamie has some other stuff going on at the mo and wasn't around to do it, so I took the calipers to Ovi for a satin powdercoat. I asked him to just blast the master cylinder and leave it bare so I would paint that ( I didn't want to remove the plastic fluid window). He has done a great job; 20240404_194957 by dusty miller, on Flickr I cleaned up all the parts going back on the calipers; 20240406_082623 by dusty miller, on Flickr And bought new seal kits from Powerhouse; 20240406_082819 by dusty miller, on Flickr Hopefully find some time today to rebuild them. I have started to polish the master cylinder lid, just to bling up the handlebar area a bit; 20240406_082716 by dusty miller, on Flickr And I've managed to drain the old fluid from the braided lines; 20240406_082335 by dusty miller, on Flickr Hopefully have it all back on the bike this weekend

Loving the look of this build already mate, LC2 forks have come up beautifully. I’m aiming to fit the same to my ‘bitsa’ LC, were there any complications fitting them? or a direct fit?, got the legs and top yoke, but was let down on a bottom yoke so still need to source that.
Oh and congratulations on the house sale buddy, keep focused on that workshop for your next move!! 😁

Hi Iain, Lc2 forks and yokes got straight in an Lc headstock with no mods required. Any model of Pv bottom yoke will work, its just the top yokes that differ. Don't think we are moving any time soon. We can't find what we want and we've been looking for months now. Did make an offer on a place but it's waay too much money and needs 30 - 50k spending on it which is crazy. Don't look on Rightmove very often now, got peed off with it all if I'm honest. Is the bits the 4l0 frame ?

Hey Dusty, I know what you mean - it gets disheartening doesn’t it?, but as my old Gran used to say ‘What’s for you, won’t pass you by’, the right place will come along I’m sure, and when you’re stood by your bike lift, in your new workshop, all the stress will be a distant memory !! 😁.
And yes, I thought I’d try and upgrade the front end on the 4L0 frame, it’s not desperate as I obviously have the standard forks etc, but thought it might be a sensible mod, now that I’m, ahem, a ‘tad’ over the 10 stone 6 pounds I was when I had my first LC 😬😆. Thanks for the info r.e. lower yoke too mate, it seems there are plenty of later valve yokes, so shouldn’t be too difficult to track one down.
Cheers buddy Iain.

It's the Lc2 yokes everyone wants, due to the standard bars set up. As you have those already, it won't be difficult to pair them with a bottom yoke 😉
