Repositioning the Koso temp sender. This is a 1/8BSP x 28 TPI Taper thread so Iβve been careful to get the correct tap (eventually) so I can use the taper to crest the lock n seal.

Bit of Hylomar blue on the threads.

Well the good news is that the motor runs.
Nikkon pipes have a lovely crackle and rasp to them.
Bad news... flamin temp sender leaks so some ThreeBond going on there as a starter.

I always use loctite 542 or 577. Never a problem with thread leakages.

I always use loctite 542 or 577. Never a problem with thread leakages. To be fair my Hylomar is years old, so could have an impact. got a few days on it now, so hopefully will get plenty done in between BSB on the telly.

Attempt #2. Spot faced the sender thread and modified a copper washer to give a compression seal on top of the thread. ThreeBond applied. Seems ok after a few heat cycles and overnight.

So all electrics are now done and I shall wrap the loom prior to final tank fitting.
Changed the jets from 38 & 145 to 45 & 170 as these are the smallest I've got in my RS spares. Bike is so much better on tick over and general throttle crispness, so will leave these for now until it gets on the dyno. It was hunting a bit off choke with the original jest which has now gone.
Slight overflow from the carbs still & I figure as they're sitting an an angle so I'll reduce the float height a mm or so and re-try.
Shame I can't seem to upload a video as these pipes sound great.

I checked the TPI on the KOSO sensor and made it 28. 1/8 NPT is indeed 27 TPI.
You could well be right & I did have a scan of the KOSO doc's just in case they mentioned it. What's more likely in the US?
Fortunately it's sealed fine now, but I will double check the other sensor out of interest.

NPT is an American standard, and is really common everywhere, for some reason. But if you've measured it as 28tpi then it must be BSP. An odd choice of thread for them. And a pain if you ever want to change to a different system, which will probably have a NPT sensor.

I'd prefer a new sensor thread for a definitive answer as to be honest both the 27 & 28 TPI gauges are a pretty good match although 28 to me seems a tad closer.
This sensor was screwed into the Yam head tapped hole which I believe now to be 26tpi parallel, so like I say may not quite be 'perfectly' original now.

Hi Mark i can understand you wanting it to be perfect, but don't forget the old saying " If it aint broke don't fix it ".

I think the thread may be M10 x 1.00 which would be 25.4 tpi parallel, I have a die somewhere to try rethreading a 1/8" NPT/BSP to M10 x 1.00

You could be right however & I'm pretty sure the TPI is 28. Either way I now have a tapered tap & a tapered lead in parallel tap. No leaks so far so I'm happy enough. I upped the head bolts torque too as it was seeping a bit from the front two centre bolts & all OK still.

I will second the opinion of Rob, i'm pretty sure i ordered M10 temperature sensors from Koso Maybe there is more than one type? Also, having wound my first KOSO sensor into the LC head and measured it afterwards (yes I know that was stupid in hindsight!) my TPI may well be spurious now..
