He does make some exquisite parts. That looks lovely It is lovely but not the easiest to deal with Considering it was in stock and I paid in full at ordering it took 6 weeks of chasing to actually get it ☹ Steve

It's really nothing on you Johnny. Just glad it worked out in the end and saved me £120 over the BDK one
Cheers Steve

In fact if you listen to the RS ford guys youre lucky you got the parts at all. 'In stock' appears to be a variable 'fact'. Does look nice tho

Hi again, so hi w’s the streetbike TR going? I am very keen to see what you end up with.
I tried to start a new thread on my TR750 build as some here suggested. Wrote a ‘Part 1’ then thought I’d better add a couple of pics of the first bits etc., it all went downhill from there. Couldn’t get the tapatalk lark sorted again, or any way of loading pics., and in the process lost what I’d written... It’s all too unwieldy for me. Not easy with my limited understanding of how this all works - way too much hassle. Sorry ‘bout this. I can send somebody a pdf pack of pics that I have in the order of the build - each has a couple of words of description - if there is someone prepared to post it - maybe a page a day would make it interesting. (There are about 40 pages.. each with 6 pics.). I could add comments on the posts... am able to do that 😁
If any of you need some info on GT750 engines, or TR750s, please don’t hesitate to contact me - always happy to share what I’ve learned. Again I’m sorry to fall at the first hurdle, but it has to be very simple for me to be able do it...

Not touched this for ages and was getting fed up with the oily manky cases cluttering my bench so took it along to a mate's who had a hot pressure wash cabinet and had a play at degreasing. He then told me about a local guy who did reasonably priced vapour blasting so I dropped them off I usually post stuff to Andy but as they were so bulky/heavy/fragile I was wary of them getting lost/damaged They turned out quite well and put my worries about the other studs maybe needing replaced to bed Steve

They look great Steve. I always get some impetus to start building when the cases come back from vapour. Have you got all the parts for the bottom end rebuild now ? Dusty

Dusty I now have everything bar clutch plates for the complete engine, fuel system and ignition My issue now is that I need to dry build to work out where all the electrics will need to go so I can get mounting points fabricated before the final frame finish is done. Need a side stand mount sorted as well. I have an LC bracket and the GT side stand frame section so another decision I was going to get the cases ceramic coated but not sure now if I should just leave the engine bare Before I can think about the engine I need to get the empty engine in the frame, the carbs/filters on and the seat unit on then get the pipe kit cut/welded to fit Steve

Couple of small bits Brushed, vacuumed, blew air on the cases then slobbered with ACF 50 Still found little pockets of beads 🙄 They will need further cleaning but they would have needed that anyway after the exhausts are fabricated before the engine gets built. Especially the oil feed passages Bit the bullet and bought new engine mount rubbers 😭 Not cheap but needed Steve

Looking good!
That does scare me about blasting cases. I had my H1 500 triple cases vapour blasted, then spent ages with a jet wash, airline and brush trying to get all the grit out.
I also used a tap on everything I could find. But when I was putting the clutch mech back in the cases with the rest of the motor assembled, the screws hit some grit. Grrr.
Fantastic looking for sure!

Fantastic looking for sure! Cheers Yes the beads are a right mare. The biggest bits I found were luckily on the outside in crevices To be honest most places in the engine would just get crushed but my biggest concern is where the oil banjo bolts screw in The drilling have a blind end just after the meeting point where the banjo thread ends and the cross drillings for the main bearing feeds and the inlets I'm going to blast the sh1t out of them with carb cleaner aerosol, compressed air, cotton buds and a tap Then back in the hot pressure wash cabinet Fingers crossed that will do it 🤞 Steve

Had the same trouble when putting my PV's back in with the grit in the end of them. Took awhile with carb cleaner and a tap.

The problem is the funds got diverted to a future LC build that I had a bit of a panic and wondered if I waited any longer the parts would have totally dried up Need to try and work out to fit these feckers lol I know that the tops are just on loose as I screwed 1 off. They need to come off anyway to set the oil level but apparently I need to remove the lip on the bottom of the stanchion to get the Bush out so the cartridge fits in Instructions say remove it in a lathe but needs to be a BIG lathe. May see if I can mill it off The fun starts with refitting the caps and the tools needed to do so May have to send them to get done 🤔 Oh and it says only use Ohlins fluid that I can't really find in the UK ☹️ Steve

Yes, I know well the feeling of funds being diverted to other projects. It is what we do best 😆
Doesn’t sound a very easy upgrade to your forks which given the requirement to remove bits by lathe or milling could very easily go horribly wrong (unless you are a skilled machinist like some of the guys on here)
Coupled with the need for special tools too I would certainly explore the benefits (and cost) of farming out. Might be the better option.
Looking forward to whatever way you go
John

I had to send mine to maxton they did the machining and the sent them back with instructions for me to rebuild ,may be you need to ask them maxton didn’t want me to build them but it saved over £200

Steve,
I've got the Andreani kit in my KTM 790, just fit new seals etc, regarding the Ohlins fork oil, when I checked out the recommended oil it was 7.5w so I just went with Silkoline.....

Thanks for posting this I had read about the 7.5w oil but thanks for confirming you used it and it was fine I'm thinking I'll get a local guy to cut out the shuttle bush on a lathe I have new genuine bushes and seals so will build up and fit the lower bolt/copper washer then take them to someone who knows better 🤣 I'll just buy normal oil, I'm not paying 50 quid for fork oil My local bike shop would probably fill the oil correctly and fit the tops Either that or I know a couple of guys who build race bikes 🤔 Steve

Im sure my Andreani kit for the RGV said to use Silkoline RSF 7.5wt, its an older kit (pre the posh tops) but expect the specs are similar as I expect they like to keep the oil standard in the range for development etc?

Nice 😎
Nothing more has happened on this other than the crankcases are in the frame
Needed them in to mock up the engine and it was the safest way to transport them during the house move

The lesson from fitting the cases is that I now need to buy the BDK titanium engine bolt kit as the standard 4 long bolts are all wrong 😭

Come on Steve 🧐
Best part is in 5 years you’ll know roughly where you’ve put all the parts 😂

Hi No further forward I'm afraid A house move has meant I've done nothing on it for months and with no workshop built at the new place there won't be any progress for a good while Was always going to be a long term project anyway Cheers Steve
